6MT drivers: Gas mileage and shift points
#16
I've kept track of each fill-up and mileage since I bought the car 239 days and 5,606 miles ago
I've averaged 16.0 mpg with a large, large part of that being city driving....and by city, I mean stop & go.
My best mpg for a tank was 24.0 and that was on a 99% highway drive to SC.
My worst mpg for a tank was 13.6 and that was mostly Christmas shopping and commuting to work.
I'm not disappointed though. The mpg is fairly similar to what my 2000 Contour was getting when it was making the same trip and as much as I loved that car, it didn't have the gadgets or power that the G does.

hey there mr. G35////with all that thinking you do...YOU must have a big headache...since you are "renting" and are a nit picker why do you not continue to rent...why....I just traded in my 323 conv. 5 speed. over the years and with only 63000 miles the car literally fell apart. wheel bearings, top mechanism. water pump, radiator, climate control AC. heater, water leaks that came from nowhere and could never find them. on the plus side no engine is smoother than the BMW, nothing rides as nice or handles as well. but you have to be a masochist to repair the dam think every week.

My BMW mechanic, who I trust completely, has counseled me NOT to buy an E9x BMW that I plan to keep past the warranty period. And he has lots of money to gain. I will be giving my E46 to my daughter later this year and buying a nice used G.
My question to you is, if you can afford to drive a late model BMW out of warranty, then gas mileage really a concern?
