Because it's only a 2.5 liter motor?

i fail to see your logic here.
if it can move a sedan, why can't it move a coupe?
2.5 liter turbo V6 should pack a good punch

and what do you mean ONLY 2.5 liters? Some of the wildest turbocharged engines tuned are under 3 liters of displacement

But in this day and age, having 210hp in a chassis that heavy... it's almost like Acura's TSX... a great motor, and a great chassis, but too underpowered when mated together.

I could see the potential if it was in a smaller, lighter chassis like the old school G20 or something smaller like the Sentra, etc... but in a V36 chassis, that motor might not make the cut. Of course it'd be great if they made it a turbocharged 3.0 or better yet a turbo 3.5/3.7

As for why a sedan... haven't the sedans always been lighter than the coupes?

don't think so ...

"In Japan the turbocharged engine is rated at 210 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque, which is competitive with the 3.0-liter inline-6 in the BMW, which is rated at 230 hp and 200 lb-ft."

Infiniti usually comes out with the new sedan first.
the V36 came out in 07 as a sedan and then as a coupe in 08. Same goes for the new 2010 facelift.
Plus, I don't think many coupe buyers would care for increased fuel efficiency as much as sedan buyers.

I think he's right and insideline misspoke.

Check out this new Autoblog post - http://www.autoblog.com/2010/01/12/r...ged-2-5-liter/

They claim the V6 NA at 210 and their V6 turbo at 280ish

The current 250GT in Japan is N/A with a 222bhp/194lb-ft VQ25HR. Infiniti never made a turbo V35/V36.

I guess they must have either mis-quoted someone or they de-tuned the FI motor for fuel efficiency?

found this:

The 2.5 L VQ25HR (for "High Revolution" or "High Response") is only offered on rear wheel drive vehicles. Bore and stroke are 85 mm and 73.3 mm, with a compression ratio of 10.3:1. It produces 223 PS (164 kW; 220 hp) to 225 PS (165 kW; 222 hp) @6,800 rpm and 194 ft·lbf (263 N·m) @4,800 rpm. It has CVTC, microfinished camshafts and a redline of 7,500 rpm.

It is fitted to the following vehicles:

* 2006–present Nissan Skyline V36 250GT Sedan - 225 PS (165 kW; 222 hp)
* 2004–present Nissan Fuga Y50 250GT - 223 PS (164 kW; 220 hp)

It wouldn't be the first time that a media outlet fugged it up.

Return of the skyline?

Is the 250GT an Inline 6? If it is, this is just a revamped R32. Hopefully the new 250 will make decent number and be closer to 300hp.

Whatchu sayin? 99% of the people in my area who drive G coupes, are woman. Woman who would probably be driving a prius given the chance.

the VQ25DET makes 280bhp/300lb-ft. sucker has more torque than us lol

Assuming they use the newer VQ25HR, it should be able to make much more power (think TT'ed VQ35DE vs TT'ed VQ35HR), even if it was tuned for efficiency from factory.
This is gonna be really good! Just imagine the aftermarket parts this thing will have

i'm guessing it'll either get the VQ25HR(222ps in NA form) +turbo(~300ps???) OR the VQ25DET(280ps)
