My point is, coupes are viewed as sport cars and sedans are viewed as family cars. Sports car buyers don't think about fuel efficiency as much. just a general view of things, not specifically for the G

Maybe, maybe not. The point of the 2.5 is to compete with cars in that class. For power, one would assume the 3.8 as the car to hunt down instead.

I do have a feeling the 2.5 will be much more fun to drive around town given a Turbo's propensity for full-TQ at lower rpms that stick for most of the rev range.

Plus, again, it's a Turbo. It'll be much easier to coax more power out of it at a given $ amount than it will be to do the same amount of power increases on the 3.5/3.7.

Imagine slapping a big turbo out it, tuning it out with all exhaust bolt on? This is the only true skyline in existence in my opinion.

^ I agree. I'd get the AWD version with the ATTESA system, then it would be a true Skyline. The new ER34 anyone?

Hey guys remember when the 1 series BMW was released. Infiniti said they would release something that rivals that maybe they have plans to put the smaller motor into a smaller coupe than the G37 coupe

That's true, but overall I think this is a great move by Infiniti. I am not sure what the exact sales figures are, but I am guessing the IS250 outsells the IS350 by a significant margin. I know that I've seen way more IS250s on the streets than I do IS350s. I think this will be a great seller for Infiniti. I am sure that sales figures (of the IS250, 325i, and C250) would indicate that the majority of cars buyers don't need or want to pay for 300+ HP.

^^ I agree 100%, lots of peeps want a nicely-appointed, sporty-looking car but don't want to pay the extra cost to drive 300+ hp.

It's about time, I've been waiting for something like this! 210hp is low but they know that too and it won't compete in the U.S. market with that kind of output. Turbo'd G37 and then what next V8 G45 bi-turbo super car!! ooh please.

Here's my speculation:

Infiniti will release the long-awaited Direct Injection VQ37VHR along with the G35 2.5L V6 Turbo this fall.

NA V6: 340+ HP
Turbo 2.5L V6: ~240+ HP

More choices the merrier, infiniti really needs this to compete with IS250, C300, 328i and , similar as they really lack any model to compete with them with a lower price tag better fuel economy for tune friendly and yet same luxury status.

+1 I think it is a smart move, now a days many people are looking for a fuel efficient car with some great looks to boot. Plus i'm sure that the turbo will make many tuners very happy. Personally, I will be more excited when they pull out a G that is on par with the M3, C63 AMG, IS-F and so forth.

Where are they planning on pricing this? Between the Maxima and the G37?

InsideLine screwed up the original blog, it's been corrected~the naturally aspirated 2.5 V6 is 210 horses the turbo version is at least 250.
