Traded my '07 G35S 5AT for '10 G37xS

I just traded my '07 G35S 5AT with premium/nav/tech package for a '10 G37xS with premium/nav.

I'm pretty happy with the AWD. It's crappy snowy outside right now and it handled with barely any slippage and just with the A/S tires.

Kind of weird to lose the RWD now though, but AWD should be nice for my longer commute now that my office moved further away.

i went to bloomington infiniti. same sales guy that I bought my '07 from. I got a decent deal, not great, but not bad. 38880 for the '10 and 21k for my '07.

The '10 was a little less than edmunds had and the trade in was a slight bit better than edmunds had too.

Yeah, one of these days I'll try to make it to one of the meets here.

We have bought 2 cars from Bloomginton Infiniti, and have had all 3 of ours serviced there. My friend also services/bought his G20T there so i know that dealer very well. Awesome service/sales i must say.

This week has been the one week where I thought it would be nice to have the X. I have a 124 mile RT commute and it has not been a great week weather wise. On the other hand, if I know it's going to be bad, I'll drive my wifes Yukon and not worry about the weather at all!

Enjoy the 10X, nice car. I had one as a loaner recently. Definitely a different experience.

Yeah, the '10 is pretty nice. The 7spd AT is pretty responsive. I didn't use the paddles on my '07 that much, and I think with the extra couple of grears I'll probably use them a bit more on my '10. The engine feels a bit more mature than the older 3.5. I'm not sure how much of it is throttle electronics though and how much is other things. even with the ECU update on the '07, the throttle tip-in always felt a bit more binary than even the '08s.

I read some pretty screwy comments on tirerack about the OEM tires, and I think they're fine in the snow. and crap we're getting dumped on us right now in the twin cities. The car definitely has a certain confidence on launch and lane changes that my '07 with Pilot Alpin PA2s didn't have in this slushy crap. Stopping definitely isn't as good as the PA2s were, but they're decent enough. I'm probably going to get 17s and snows next year though because the 18s are a bit more jarring with all the potholes out there right now.

So far, after less than a week, I have no regrets on the trade-in.

Dropped it off at the dealer to get the clear bra installed today and unfortunately the installer is running late, so i'll have to pick it up tomorrow, but they gave me an EX as a loaner. I haven't driven an EX yet. Not a bad vehicle, but I'm really surprised at the lack of visibility over the shoulder. I guess it makes sense why nissan chose this vehicle to introduce the 360deg camera

I had enough money in my '07 that I paid it off in 3 years at 507/mo. That's 17250 to fully pay off a 36 month loan. I've been saving my previous monthly payment every month for my next car, which I assumed would be a few years down the road.

I need new summer tires on the '07 (at tirerack prices that's close to 1200 shipped/installed). I need new winter tires next winter (at tirerack prices that's close to 800 shipped/installed).

17250+2000 is about 250 bucks less than what my '10 "cost" me in loan and down payments.

in other words, the trade in deal was almost a wash ($250 difference)

Surprised the hell out of me.

FYI, that 17250 is pre-interest. My interest rate on my '10 is actually a little lower than on my '07. Enough to make like a $50 difference across 36 months, so I guess the "real" difference is like 200 bucks

I'm not understanding your justification on that math....you still lost every penny in depreciation between your 07's selling price and the trade-in as well as now are going to pay sales tax on the difference between 21k and 39k... But I don't want to ruin the excitement of the new buy, so again, congratulations.
