If there's any downside, it's that it is wearing the heel of my shoe rather fast.
Soundmike: Thx for the pics and feedback. I will strongly consider all weather mats when I replace the carpet ones. I have stone gray interior. I think I would opt for the same color on the mats, not black.

I am going with black OEM

1. I just like the look better.
2. I don't need to cover up the entire floor because I don't live in a snowy state (we had snow for the first time since 2002 last weekend).
3. I love that it says Infiniti. Makes it seem nicer.
4. I am going with black rather than the light grey like my carpet because my car is two tone (with grey and black) and I can only imagine it needs cleaning less.
5. I am getting them for $71 plus tax (dealer quoted me $83 forever, but I asked for their "best" price and they did me a solid). Weathertechs would be about twice as much.

I live in Vermont. Plenty of bad weather. I have had the OEM rubber mats. I got them to throw it in at the very end of my deal so I didn't pay for them.

They work ok. Don't slip and hold up well. The problem is the don't cover well. I still get tons of white salt build up by the seat and around the left and right side that has to be cleaned come spring. I am sure the weather techs are better.

I had the OEM winter mats thrown in also. Used them for one winter (acutally left them in spring summer summer) and the driver's side mat ripped in the middle. Got the Weathertechs floor liners and have never been happier. They work very well and coverage is great. I would say for me, no contest. Weather techs win.

As thick as the OEM mats are, i'm wondering what could've caused it to rip?

Not really sure why either. I think it's the quality of rubber, not very pliable so after repeated pressure and wear and tear put on them they tore down the middle of the mat, between the longitudinal grooves.

I've been using weathertech floor mats on my vehicle for the past 3 years, and I must say that I am comfortable using it. The stock mats kinda give me an irritable feeling while driving or while riding. Try to go for it!

Cheap alternative

I replace my carpeted mats every year. For $20 I can get a full set of mats (front and rear) that match my interior from Meijer (I'm in MI). I spent about $7 on a grommet kit from Home Depot (the 3/4" ones I believe but I'll check when I get home tomorrow). Placing the original mat on top of the new mat and marking where the grommets should go is easy enough (I carefully use a fine tipped permanent pen) and it takes about 5 minutes per front mat to hammer perfectly fitting (i.e. just like stock) grommets into place. I store the original factory mats and put new ones in every spring. The grommet kit comes with enough grommets for about 7 or 8 years, so this costs me about $21 a year. The grommets even fit perfectly on the little studs that hold the mats in place. Not the same as rubber mats I know but if you prefer carpet and can live without the fancy Infiniti logo...
