Warranty on brake caliper and rotors.

My car is 07 G35 Journey. It is only 29k miles but the brake caliper on the rear passenger side has failed. It grinds groves on the rotor deep enough so that the shop can't resurface it. The car is making grinning noise at what ever speed and the noise becomes louder when I brake.

I will take my car to the Infiniti dealer so the mechanic can take a look and decide whether or not to replace the parts. My concern is to prevent the dealer telling story on this warranty, I need your advice.

Any advice will be appreciated.

I have had both rear calipers replaced on my 04 sedan under my extended warranty. They also replaced pads and rotors due to the excessive wear caused by the locked caliper.

I hope they will do the same thing on my car. I talked to the mechanic this afternoon and he put up a ridiculous claim that infrequently use of the vehicle may be the cause of this problem. I want to prepare before I talk to them so they can't put the blame on me.

While that MAY be true it should still be covered under the warranty. FYI - If I'm going to be leaving my vehicle sitting for any length of time I don't keep the e-brake engaged.

no no no. I think you misunderstood me. I drive my car once or twice every week. I didn't leave sit for a long period of time. I didn't buy a G35 as a toy.

Even if it sits for 3 or 4 days I still do not leave the e-brake engaged. Maybe I do it out of paranoia but I was told NOT to leave the e-brake engaged for several days at a time.

Kind of stupid to have to do that but oh well.

If you are talking about the "foot" e-brake, then no. I only put the car into "Park" position. I never engaged the e-brake.

Sounds like a lack of lubrication on the calipers. Dirt and road salts can get in sliders and lock them up. If they are lubed properly, this isn't a problem.

From what I know the ebrake pads are within the rear rotors like drums and have serepate mechanism and nothing to do with the rear calipers, the pads outside are for the brake system linked with the brake pedal and not with the ebrake.

Thats my understanding so in that case ebrake has nothing to do with the calipers. If someone knows that i am incorrect plz correct me.
