15k service on my '08 G35

Dropped my car off to have the 15,000 service and to have the brakes checked out...I was getting noticeable vibration through the wheel when applying brake pressure. The service advisor later called me and told me that it was covered under warranty because there was a service bulletin which indicated that some heat or moisture shield was inadequate for the 07-08 cars and caused warped rotors...ended up getting all 4 rotors refinished at no cost.

I will be picking the car up tomorrow morning, so im playing around with the loaner G37 sedan...pretty pleased with it, not noticeably different except the 7 speed transmission seems confused at slower speeds and shifts pretty hard even when not pushing it.

Must say that this was a pleasant experience...I love not having to argue with service advisors over whether something is covered under warranty.

I had my 08 sedan serviced under that same TSB for front brake shudder/squeal. They actually REPLACED the rotors, backing plate, pads, etc. However, they did not do anything to do the rears since the TSB was addressed only for the front brakes.

Is an inadequate backing plate the source of the problem...what exactly does that do?

Not exactly sure what the source of the problem was.. but I was experiencing a lot of brake shudder and squeal from the front brakes. I looked up a TSB and found one on it addressing the same problem. I went into the dealer mentioned it to the service advisor and he looked up various information in his computer and later told me that everything would covered under warranty.

The rotors and brake pads are of inferior quality and temp characteristics, causing pad material transfer during braking. Infiniti knows this, and this is why they are willing to resurface the rotors under warranty. The problem will come back, sooner. The only solution is to replace rotors/pads with quality aftermarkets.

I went to the dealer today and they said they would turn the rotors under warranty or replace them if need be when I got the car back they turned than and there were still hot spots all over and they said that should fix it, I told them I'll see you back in 1000 miles for new ones.

I know there are plenty of threads concerning BBKs and replacements for those with sport brakes...I just have a 2008 journey-what are some good stock replacement rotors/pads for the non-sport setup?

Agreed.
I was considering getting mine done on warranty too but said, what's the point? They'll be warped in no time again. Even if they replace it, they'll be putting the same junk on that's there now.

Not sure this is true. I had my front rotors and pads done under warranty 2 years into my lease. The service adviser said the replacements are not the same as the original and they hold up better. Seems to be the case so far.

My dealer replaced the rotors, pads and replaced the heat shield with a much larger one. I love FREE parts!

Replacement rotors are different? That is great news, except if your dealership happens to be in greater NY area and refuses to replace the rotors, resurfacing them for the 2nd time instead I already bought the aftermarkets and am too tired to fight it out with them again over this.
