cost to paint body.

I was just wondering how much it would actually cost to paint the entire exterior of the car.

I have a liquid platinum g but would it be possible to somehow change the color of it to a black obsidian? is it possible to actually make it natural rather then like a ricer car.

and thank you everyone for your help! :]

Depends on the quality. If you want to get every nook and cranny done as if the car was originally that color estimates are usually around 5k.

^ like he said, if you want it done right inside out, it will be around 4-5k. Or a cheaper one around $2k where they dont touch the engine bay and interior door jams etc.

Whatever you do hopefully you'll end up w/ a better paint job than the factory paint. I've owned alot of cars and have never seen such fragile paint. The chips just fly off this car if you look at it wrong? I'm on my 2nd G but doubt I'll get another unless the paint quality improves. I know these Low emisiion requirements have a lot to do w/ the paint quality, but Infiniti paint seems to be the most chip-prone I've seen.

I've been lucky so far, i do have some chips but at 40+k the G is looking much better than any other Nissan i've owned/currently own with just a fraction of those miles.

How many miles do you have, and what year vehicle do you have? For $4-5k for a decent paint job, you'll probably come out ahead if you just trade your car in for a similar mileage vehicle in the right color.

I have ~45k and the only part of my car that has chips is the front bumper, which is understandable considering the paints are now water based from what i have heard. I am happy how the rest of cars panels have handled the conditions.

yup, should had spent more time figuring out if you liked the color before buying it. You're better off trading or buying a car with the color of your liking. repainting the entire car will most likely kill resale value.

Shockingly, this question comes up alot about people buying something only to ask how much to convert it to something else. Same thing with auto/manual conversion.

Yup. Most paints are all water based nowadays resulting in "weaker" paint compared to pre-VOC stuff. We can thank the tree huggers for that.

Some food for thought.

The only step affected by the switch to waterborne paint is the basecoat. Though there are some waterborne primers, you'll generally still use traditional, solvent-based primer and clear.
Source.

Let see:

1. an '08 G x w/ Premium package w/ 30k miles- trade in now is about 23k?
23k + 5k to repaint = 28k but I doubt you can get more than 20k for a repaint car.

2. Trade in for a 2010 and add 12k but you have a car that is worth 30K at trade in now.
