Looking for some insight on V36 v V35 Purchase

I am a long time follower of the g35 sedan since its inception. After finishing college, buying a house, and starting a career it's time to look into buying a car for myself.

Several weeks ago I test drove an 07' G35x. I loved the car and I couldn't complain about anything, I have not yet had a chance to drive a 06 or older G35X yet. The only 06 they had at the dealer was sold so I was unable to drive it. I do like the interior on the 07 and newer cars better, but could be happy with the 06 interior.

Price comes into play as I would like to be out the door for under 22K, with less than 35k miles on the car. This would allow me to get almost any 06 sedan, but limits me on the availability of 07 and newer sedans.

I posted in this section because I am guessing a lot of the 07 and newer owners came from the previous versions. Is the price and availability of the 07 worth the wait to find the right one compared to an 06?

At the end of the day you have to watch your budget and choice to make a decision, however i will highlight a few points that made me buy the 07 INSTEAD of the 06 as i initially went in to buy the 06.

The body styling on the 06 is quite boxy compared to the curvey 07(again everyone has there own opinion), the engine in the V36 is 80% rebuilt to allow a much smoother and powerful build upto the redline unlike the previous gens that seem to "run out of breath" near redline.(i have FX35 and have a friend who has 05 G coupe). The steering is speed sensitive so it is very easy to maneuver at lower speeds and gets stiff at high speeds. The interior is a big difference for me in terms of look and feel. The navi is HD based so its much faster with no lagging, seats material and support are much better IMO...

Obviously there are many more differences that made me choose the 07 over 06 but i have highlighted the main ones that made me get the 07 over 06. Final opinion is to drive both cars and make the decision for yourself, i know you will feel a difference.

I agree with all of the above. I just didnt think there was any comparison in the interiors between the 2006 and 2007. The 2007 is MUCH nicer IMO.

That being said, you can find a 2006 a lot cheaper than a 2007...as I found during my search. If you can afford the 2007 go with it! If not, the 2006 is still a very nice car...

I was in the same boat and for the life of me couldn't find any comparisons. Very surprising.
I liked the 07 alot but couldnt justify almost 8k more in price between the 2 in the used car market. To me it wasnt worth the 8k as the 05/06 refresh is pretty nice. Not as nice as an 07 but worlds of difference from an 03/04

^ that is a good point on price if interior does not bother you much. This wikipedia sums up everything between the two generations nicely with good stats and numbers as well.

You cant go wrong either way as long as you get the 05+ for the better interior if price is an issue.
