ouch.
I still don't get it. You have the X and you were in 1st gear and you could not handle the car? Man I can take turn with VDC off at redline and still manage it. Was the road icy? Even that I play in parking lot when it is icy and floor the thing and still controllable.
Oh well. I guess you learned the hard way. Hope everything works out good for ya.

^ tg1234, as he mentioned i think the sand played a part in him losing control along with his unfamiliarity with the G's power and control as he rarely drives it and top that off with some late night adrenaline rush and there you have it...
i am sure most of us have had such a brain freeze at some point in our lives, just glad nobody got hurt and everything has been dealt with so that you can now try to laugh it off.

sandy, wet. plus one important factor the shop guy told me.
I dont know tires as much as I should. he noticed 'cracks' in the OEM tires (at 19k miles btw) that should not be there.
also- it was near redline and shifting from 1st to 2nd. I already had some wheelspin. but it almost seemed like immediate oversteer.
Ive had plenty of older/other cars past the tipping point, in spins and so forth.
I even took this out in the snow and played to see how she handles.
I've never had this happen, and it pisses me off.
I'm taking it to an empty lot again to recreate it. trust me.

Regular inspection is important part of the routine. I check tires/ tire pressure, fluids every week. I check all the cars at home at the same time.

^^ c'mon...not EVERY time. lol
Some of us grew up driving 250-300HP RWD cars that didn't have an nannies or even ABS and power steering. And no, I'm not old.
However, VDC has a purpose and there is no sensible reason I can think of for anyone to turn it off while driving in an urban area other than to possibly get yourself out of being stuck in the snow or mud.
The OP regrets his mistake and is admittedly embarrassed (aren't they all). Just glad nobody was injured.
