rotor rust

As soon as the weathers better all the rotors are coming off to take care of this.
Anybody else have this issue? Or has everyone painted theirs while I'm busy doing other things?

I painted mine. Just taped off everything except the rotor hat, sanded down the rust, primed it with rust-o-leum, then finished it off with some silver high-heat rust-o-leum paint. Took me about 2 hours to do all 4 rotors.

yeah I painted my hats and rotors too, I used the brush method, no tape, anything that gets on the braking surface grinds off pretty quick when driving. And with the brush I didnt get that much in that area either. Also painted the calipers with G2 epoxy paint.

Nice how is G2 holding up? i used dupli color caliper paint and it has started flaking and want to use something which is a bit more permanent and yet cost effective.

Did you paint the calipers while on the axle...or take them off?

I used spray paint and painted them on the vehicle. Hence why I taped off everything. Do quick short strokes, thin coats. Otherwise, the paint runs.

Also, look for a product called Extend (I think) rust and metal treatment. It can be brushed on and reacts with the metal to prevent rust. Lasts longer than paint and looks pretty good for this sort of application.

^ probably won't last very long especially if you're hard on your brakes. Per Loctite's data sheet, the Extend rust treatment's operating temp is 250 degrees intermittent, or 200 continuous.

You would think so, but I used this on rotors on a Cobra that was run pretty hard and it didn't burst into flames.

It needed to be recoated about every tire rotation, but was quick and easy to do and even when "worn off" from heat, the tone of the rotors was still much closer to black than rust.

If you're looking for show quality and are willing to pull the rotors/mask/paint then that's certainly a better choice of course.

I thought this happened to all rotors, atleast it always did on my Hondas/Acuras. The G just got new pads and rotors from a TSB so hopefully it won't happen for a bit longer.
