Is it ok to replace a non-touchscreen display with a touchscreen display & still work

I have a non-navi 07 G35 and I was thinking about purchasing just the navi touchscreen display from this guy out of another 07 G35 and replace it with my screen. Even though I don't have navigation in my car, will the touchscreen still work, like with the radio and the cd? The reason why I'm doing this is because I'm thinking about purchasing the Garmvin GV-50 which has touchscreen interface and if I replace my non-touchscreen display with a touchscreen display, will it still work in my car? Any advice from you guys would be awesome!!

I thought the navi touchscreen was part of the full navi unit. So are you replacing everything? The buttons, the full unit? I am not sure how you change just the screen.

From: Waterloo, Ont.
The touchscreen unit uses a different PIN layout on a different factory harness.
This guy shows a Garmin GVN 53 working with an FX35 touch screen so it's possible.
