leather seat tear

sucks this happen to me and wondering anybody else have this problem. i would expect our leather seat to hold up better than this esp where it tear at. i have pics so u can see where its at.
im not a big guy so this doesnt make any sense to rip this early, barely 3 years of owning this car. also not driven much and i do use leather clean every other car wash. does anyone know if this is still under warranty?

Did you just noticed this or did it happen slowly?

I would bet something sharp gouged it. The tear extends past the stitching and you would think that the stitching would insulate the thin leather in front of it.

I just noticed last week mine is torn in the exact same spot!!!! I actually have 3 tears like that so be glad you only have one for now LOL. I know exactly how I did it to. For the last three years, 4 or 5 times a day I constantly reach in the back to get my gym and tennis bag or purse. And I'm leaning on it so it is just wear and tear for me. I didn't expect it to not be able to hold up but that is exactly what mines looks like. Such an eyesore, so I'll be getting it refitted. Its more or less plastic though, not true leather. Atleast it doesn't look like the back sides are real leather.

wow this is something we will have to look out for. I would think this would be under warranty if you can show that nothing tore it.

Your are most likely covered under warranty unless you have high mileage. Call your local dealer to be certain.

Are our 2nd Gen Gs have real leather or it's just fake leather? I heard it's not a real leather that's why there are some rips in the early stage. That's sucks!!

My driver side bolster is also starting to show some considerable wear. Nothing out of the ordinary for a seat like this with fat bolsters. BMW sport seats do the same thing, but worse and their leather is of higher quality.

I would be extremely surprised if this is covered by warranty. There is no way you could prove this wasnt wear and tear. ie if you get significant wear or a hole in your floor mats, this wont be covered by warranty...

What type of leather care product? You may be using it too often and drying out the leather & vinyl. You shouldn't need to condition/clean your leather more than every 3-4 months.

I use Lexol conditioner and cleaner once every 6 months. But I know my tears are due to use. What cleaner is everyone else using?
