New Member & G Owner

Hello all. I've been lurking here a while as I've been searching for used G. After several months of searching I found what I was looking for. Just picked up an '07 G35S auto, navi, tech, rear spoiler. Platinum/Ebony. Only 5,500 miles. It was garage kept and in like new condition.

I'm thoroughly enjoying driving a sports sedan after 10 yrs of full size pick up and SUV (still keeping the Tahoe for weekend duty). I'm still learning a lot about the capabilities of the car's technology and this site has been extremely helpful.

Couple of minor issues:
1. Independent dealer I purchased from only provided 1 key. I've seen some intelligent keys on e-bay that are uncut. Can these be taken to dealer for programing w/out issues? Anything to watch out for?

2. I've read that the '07's have had problem w/door trim & steering wheel peeling easily. Mine's in very good shape, but a fingernail easily takes the black off (ooops). Are these still being covered under warranty or does it vary among dealerships?

3. Tried to change the oil, but my old ramps are too tall to clear the front air dam. What are others using for ramps? Rhino Ramps?

4. What options are there for updating the Navigation system?

Thanks for any help.
Wayne

Wow, 5,500 miles!? What an awesome find!!!! You can search and find all the answers to your questions, but I will make it a little easier and answer the ones I know...

2. Depends on dealer. My 07 still looks new, but a lot of guys have had luck with having their dealer replace it. Some wont. I would imagine with your car only having 5,500 miles they would do it.

3. I use a jack and jack stands to change my oil.

4. You can pick up the disc to update the nav system. Some one will chime in here with where to purchase it...

If you dont have a relationship with your dealer, go introduce yourself. This is the best and easiest way for them to be on your side and not hassle you about anything.

There is no disc to update your navigation. You have an '07 which is hard drive based. You have to go the dealers to get it done. I went to the one up 75. I ordered online for like 125 (some "special") and they installed it for around 60. For Atlanta, the points of interest is much more updated, but the biggest change I've noticed is that it now has Atlantic Station, so I'm not floating in space or on 85 when I'm actually in the parking deck. Oh yeah, for some reason, the car thinks 20 is 285 sometimes. Well, only when you have a route plotted.

Where in Georgia are you? not Buckhead, right?

Ahhh gotcha. I'm in Buckhead and I swear I've seen the same G rolling around lately, thought by chance it might be you.

But yes, the interior scratches easily I have a small "chip" on the steering wheel from my fingernail as well.
