Knocking sound from backseat?!!??!

A couple days ago, I started hearing a loud a clear KNOCK or CLICK sound from the back seat.

I've seen threads with knocking sounds from the engine part.. but not from the back.

It happens when going over a rough speed bump : one single knock!

I don't hear anything driving "through" a rough road.

I only hear it when there's a big thump on the back side wheels.
(hope I described it understandably)

I did try tying the 3 ***** for the baby seats.. suppose those have nothing to do with it.

Anyone have a suggestion?

Anything loose in the spare tire area such as the jack/lugwrench or the spare tire itself?

Every time I hear knocking that sounds like it's coming from my backseat area, it turns out to be something rocking around in my trunk. That's why we have cargo nets, our cars have more than enough power to give your laptop in the trunk a proper beating.

That's what I thought at the first place...
so I did empty out the trunk,
trunk inner liner (believe me this material make loud noises when bent and comes back to its original shape), tools and even the spare tire.

I just dropped it off at the dealer and got a loaner's car (09 g37x) and it does the same thing...

I've had 3 different loaner's so far, and 2 them did the same thing. what the....

Could just be the exhaust hitting the underside of the car whenever you go over large bumps..

thanks for all the advises...
well, the car's at the dealer now getting some rattles and other issues taken care of.
I've described as thoroughly as possible, so hopefully the experts can figure it out.

I did had seat belts on my mind, so did an test drive with the belts and knuckles all tucked in and taped.. etc but no hope.

and about the exhaust hitting underside (IninitJazz), I hope that's not the case...

After some googling, I did come up with a few more possible reasons;
1. sway link problem
2. ball joint problem
3. tie rod problem

Saw some clips from youtube, and they sound very similar to my car.

I'd say check your sway bar bushes, maybe they need some re-greasing.

Mine made the oddest sound when going over speed bumps.

Other than that I too get weird knocking noises from the rear, I'm planning on tightening all the screws this weekend.

have you found the problem?
I'm having the same problem when i go over bumps (i think). its a loud thud/thump sound over every dips and bumps on the road.
my guess was the speakers behind the back seat head rest area... didnt even think about under the car!

any help would be much appreciated.
thanks,

DO you realize you bumped a 3 year old thread? Maybe they'll answer you, but . . .

I kinda surprised no one mentioned the ol' " Did you look for a hooker in the trunk?" bit.

I feel your pain and fustration. I have been living with this for 5 years! I haven't change the suspension. The clicking sound comes and goes when the back seat is empty. And it's not from stuff in the trunk moving around either. Has anyone solved this mystery?

Same issue here. To me, it sounds like something loose in the headliner. The service manual details a difficult (for me) procedure for removing the headliner though. I'd sure like to to see a DIY on it...

Yeah mine does the same thing.

I have a 2007 G35 Journey with aftermarket exhaust and it makes the same noise from time to time.

I've tried coating the underside bushing and connection points including the exhaust hangers with a light coat of silcone spray and it didn't seem to make a different.

I mainly noticed mine when I am traveling at 60+ mph on the freeway for 10 minutes or more.

Other than that on surface streets light to light I rarely ever hear it.

Still it is annoying tho.
