Rattle in Roof

Just took my G in for regular service and to eliminate a rattle coming from the roof, just behind the sunroof on the passenger side. The rattle occurs on every bump in the road. Infiniti has had it for 2 days and can't locate the cause. Anyone have a similar problem?

Unfortunately yes. Its been in over 5 times , 2 different dealerships have had it for probably over 3 months of time combining all visits. They have had the headliner down many times with no luck. They have replaced the sunroof track, cooperate is involved all all they can say is well take it back well have them look at it again. In the mean time my car is getting more and more damaged each time it goes in( 2 damaged rims, scratched fender, broken pillar pieces...). Each time I take it in I say please and thank you, tell them to take their time, Bla Bla Bla trying to do my part and not get mad. I have repeatedly asked/requested corporate send out a regional specialist and have been point blank told no! The lack of professionalism from the dealerships and lack of care from corporate for customer satisfaction is laughable. Needless to say I have had far better service and treatment from none luxury brand dealers and makers.

Good luck!
Brad

rattle in roof

I have had my car in many times and the dealer stll cannot fix it. I left the car in the dealership 2-3 days at a time and still it rattles. I have to say it comes and goes but it is maddening. My noise appears to be behind the drover's seat. They did something to the sunroof shade one time as it is now harder to open and close.

i had a noise coming from the roof behind the sunroof that was driving me crazy. it turned out to be the velcro holding the headliner up. every time i went over a bump, the headliner would move a little bit and the pulling on the velcro would make a noise that sounded like a rattle. i stuck my hand between the headliner and the roof and pulled it off of the velcro and the noise went away. you might want to give it a try.

I have a noise I can hear sometimes with sunroof open and driving over railroad tracks.

In my car it seems to possibly be the spring loaded wind deflector.

I just noticed mine started doing this, did anyone track this down? I've heard the most common is the screws on the sunroof get loose over time - I am checking that first.

I am pretty sure it is the headliner. My car does it too, until I put pressure up against the headliner and it goes away. It seems that the headliner and the roof have a little gap in between each other that cause the slight rattle.

Here is a video that I just took of my issue.

It only rattles when the sunroof is closed. If I open the sunroof, there is no rattle when I tap.

It rattles over every little bump and it's really annoying.

Yup I saw that gap. Going to see if maybe i squeeze something in there to tighten up the headliner and reduce the rattle.

I have a sunroof rattle too. I notice it when the roof is in the tilted/vented position. If i shut the door or drive over railroad tracks or something, it like, clanks almost. Like another member stated though, it comes and goes...

Thanks all. This is such an annoying noise. My car only has 34k and rattles, unreal.

Going to see if I can do something about it today.
