DIY Black out chrome
I use the best of the best.
Eh, doesn't really matter anymore. I just did it the hard way.

^salvador... you can use a water/soap combo that makes the vinyl much easier to use. Once you have it set the way you want it you use a blow dryer or heat gun to dry it and bammm! perfect...it also makes it a little more stretchy eliminating bubles and wrinkles

I give you props for what you did.
But Im surprised you didn't do any sanding first... Hope fully it doesnt start chipping, cause then it will look cheap.
I vinyled mine out.

What do you mean? He sanded all of the chrome...as he said above the 8th pic in the first post, "Sand every chrome piece down with 400 grit until it looks like brushed aluminum"
Props to you OP. Ive painted all of my interior parts but i used a spray gun, but one thing you could do that will help you out is sanding technique. I START with 400 and then move up to 600 then 800 and then 1k (wet sanded) then prime it....then hit it again with the 1k (not wet sanded) then spray a layer of paint or two, then after you have cleared it and its dry wet sand it again with the 1k lightly and the finish will be so smooth and flawless. Hope that helps some. Ill take pics of the pieces i painted and post them.
oops didnt catch that part

I guess I'm the minority here.
I don't mean any disrespect, but that looks awful.
The grill looks a little better in the newest pics, but the trim does not look like it was evenly applied.
Maybe it's just the pics.. I don't know.

I popped out the door handle side pieces and my aluminum pieces around my indash screen, pretty much everything aluminum that i could pop out or unscrew was painted. The first time i did it the paint was to much of a light metallic so i added some black and repainted it today it looks SICK, im letting them dry right now before i put them back in but ill post pics PROMISE ;-)
