Returning/Advice

Hey all I had an 04 6-speed Sedan that I traded last year for a Yukon Denali. Now I'm in the market again for another G35 and found an 07 Sport with Nav/sunroof/manual tranny/ etc for $25688 (47908 miles). My bank says it's only worth $24600, and that's all they will lend for it. My question is what can i expect from this car compared to my previously owned 2004.

I haven't driven it as yet as i am in NYC on vacation but will return to GA tomorrow night and go test drive on Thursday and work out details.

What do you guys think of the price of that 07?

You can expect a more refined interior and a bit more power.
Your test drive will sell the car to you.

Offer 24k and walk if he won't take 24,600. $24,600 sounds fair if it's a clean car. You'll definately like the drive no doubts in my mind about that. Be sure it has good tires too, a set of sport staggered summer tires (of OEM quality) will set you back at least another 1k. Use the mileage to get the price down since you'll only have 12k miles left on the warranty. Also if you do get the car be sure to take care of all the TSBs before your warranty is up (if you didn't already know this )

I went from a 2005 to a 2008 because of lots of small incremental improvements. I liked the obvious things; new styling, dual exhausts, more power, etc. but it's the little things I didn't expect like how convenient the intelligent key is, how the traction control behaves, and how comfortable the seats are that made the case for me to upgrade. I probably wouldn't have switched except that I had a 2007 loaner for a couple of weeks and got to appreciate them firsthand.

You should be able to buy a car for less than the bank/kbb/edmunds valuation; in fact you want to make sure that you do so. Obviously the condition of the car has a lot to do with how much it's really worth. The bank will use an average based on model year/mileage and features, but That same car with new tires is probably worth $1200 more than with bad tires. Accidents, dings, how clean it is, etc. can make a bigger difference. The 6MT cars are harder to find, but they are out there and you don't need to pay a premium to get them. Asking prices on used cars are often higly negotiable. Good luck!

wow that price is really expensive...i got my 2007 g35x with wood, prem, nav, tech packages (auto) 21k miles for $28,200 LAST YEAR. Your price is definitely way too high. I think it should be worth 24k at most. BTW i got my car at an infiniti dealership. It was hard to find due to the rarity of tech and wood packages on the 2007 G35x.

Thanks all for the suggestions and comments. from the internet i can see it has Falken tires which I know will not perform great but we'll see once i get a close up to see thread wear.

I'll have to research the recalls and TSB to see what I need to ask about on Thursday.
Don't even know if I'll buy the car as yet but I have already started looking for rims Will update in a few days

My Falken FK452's have been great but you'll need winter tires for sure.

about 3 months ago I got an 08 G35x AT ( no Navi) for $25,000 36k miles (they put new tires and floor mats for me), If $25688 is the asking price for your car... then that's all what it is, an "asking price". The dealer was asking for 27,499 for my car to be honest I'd have paid any price for the car after I test drove it.
Good luck

Yea thanks, understand it's just an asking price. Same for the denali i bought last year they were asking $27K for it my bank said it's only worth $25,500 and the dealership said ok without a hassle. Made me feel i could have gotten it for less.

I love that it's SILVER and 6-speed, Nav is a bonus but nice since the Denali has it too. Not loosing anything from the trade except DVD/Entertainment, and 12 MPG ha-ha. Oh well the wife's van has DVD.

Let the purchase and modding begin

I got an 07 Garnet Ember G35S 6MT with premium and nav and 21,686 miles on it for 22,500 a week ago Saturday. Granted I have been searching for months and bought this one less than a week after they began advertising it, but the asking price on the one you are interested in should be lower in my opinion.

I flew to Dallas and drove mine back to Kentucky--see "Am I crazy" thread for pictures. I suggest you widen your search area and be willing to travel.

I did see that thread. The thing is travel is hard for me being in the Military, i am vacation now but that'll soon be over in 9 days. I don't need the car, I just want it and am willing to walk away in a heartbeat based on suggestions here on price, and what my bank said it's worth.

In that case you shouldn't have much trouble getting your price. Just walk away and they will make the deal. good luck!

They sold dat sheit yesterday. They they called me and told me they had a black one arrived, hell I wanted the Silver, Premium, nav, 6-speed. Why do dealers do that. They always offer you some BS "AFTER" you tell them exactly what you're looking for.

Oh well guess I'm holding on to the Denali for a little longer.
