My G died & I was stranded!!! WTF???
I have a 07 G35s...no engine mods...(just the stuff in my signature)...with 62,000 miles.
I was driving back from the beach this past weekend and my car died! I had the cruise control set at 85 and and was just cruising. all of a sudden the cruise turns off and a bunch of lights on the dash lit up. i lightly pressed the throttle and there was nothing. I immediately pulled off to the side and when I came to a complete stop, i noticed the engine was dead but everything else was working as normal (radio, windows, air, etc.). so i turned the car off and then tried to start it. the starter ran...but the car would not start. the dealer said the starter was turning the crankshaft but not the cams. he also said it would take a couple days to take the engine apart to figure out "what broke".
anyone ever have this happen? anyone have a clue as to what happened?
thanks!

If the dealer is correct and the crankshaft is turning but the cams aren't, the most likely culprit is probably a timing chain or belt.
If this let go, there may be more serious internal damage if a valve and piston tried to occupy the same place in space and time.
The good thing is it seems you should be covered under the powertrain warranty. The bad is it might be a while before you get your car back.
