I like the way the G looks over the M. If I had the money I would have gone m45 for sure.

Maybe the new M sure. The old ones nah. M56X hell yeah. Maybe even the M37X too. I just not a big fan of the old style. But this is subjective.

I've always been a fan of that generation of the M... until the new gen came out. The 2011 is drop dead gorgeous. Now I don't think I could settle for the older one. Go for the G. Great cars either way, though.

The M is definitely the better deal, so from that perspective get the M. But to be perfectly honest, I don't think the look of that year's M really sets it apart from other manufacturers with cars in that segment. The G on the other hand, IMHO, is so striking looking when compared to it's competition. And I truly think the G is a better looking car than the M you are considering. Now the current year M is gorgeous, much better looking than it's competition.

I've got three kids (17, 15, 13). They all fit in the G, but it is a little tight. What does the wife say? After all, she's the boss!

Which is the better value? I'm a family man now, but still enjoy spirited driving. I've test driven both, and the acceleration feels pretty equal, but haven't taken both through the twisties. Price is an issue, but not a terrible one.
Basically, if you were in my shoes, could afford both (although the G more easily) had two young children, which would you go for?
I realize this might be slanted asking it on a G forum, but try to have an unbiased opinion. Either way, I'll be sure to let the decision be known. Thanks for any and all responses.
You can't go wrong with either car.

However value wise I'd say the M as you're getting a car that is 1 year younger, with 10k miles less, which lists I think $5K for $5K more assuming that the carfax or history of both cars come out clean. Now if there are carfax or vehicle history issues then that would affect my statement.

well, I drove a total of 12hours, about 800 miles yesterday. Went from Omaha up to Minneapolis and came back with a...... drumroll please...................

2008 G35XS with premium package. Paid a little more than I was planning, but got a great deal for my trade in, and got a great price on the G.
After test driving the M again, I wasn't all that impressed. It felt bigger and more luxurious, sure, but the driving felt so detached, the G is definetely more of a driver's car. I'm so stoked on the new ride, pics to follow, maybe on a different thread. Thanks to everyone for opinions.

I drove from Wisconsin to Minneapolis to get my 2008 G. What dealership did you go to? I got mine at Lupient Infiniti.

Happy to hear you're excited about your purchase. Welcome to the forum.

I'd say go for the G if you like spirited driving from time to time. The G is faster than the M. Both are nice inside and outside. So it just comes down to styling, which do you like more. I personally would take the G.

EDIT: didn't finish reading the thread. Congrats on the G.

went to Wayzata Nissan. Check out their inventory if you know someone in the market. They've got a HUGE inventory of 08 G's on the lot, many with low mileage and under $26k.
