How do I change the parking lights?

Okay, I did a search; I looked in the "DIY" section, and I looked in the "Lighting" section. I found nothing that showed how to replace the parking lights. I found a ton of advice on what bulbs will give what color light, but I couldn't find a thread that gave step-by-step directions on changing the parking lights on an 08 (or any model, for that matter). There was also a lot of information on changing fog lights and headlights... but nothing on parking lights. Am I blind? Is there an abbreviation for "Parking Light" (PL?) that I should search?

If there's a thread I'm missing, please PM me with it and delete this thread.

I did read somewhere that the car needs to be jacked up and the tire removed. True? False? What else after that?

H E L P!

Thanks!
Michael

Removing the wheels would make it a bit easier to get to the bulb but it's a hassle to jack up the car and take off the wheels.

Here's what I do when I want to change the bulbs, others have done it the same way too.

1) Turn your wheel inwards so the front of the tire is facing the wheel well and the back is sticking out.
2) Remove clips (if they're there) holding the fender liner onto the brackets around the fender.
3) Grab the edge of the fender liner and push it inwards and downwards. Do this towards the front of the car so you can reach in there. (behind the front bumper)
Also, around the front of the fenderliner you'll see that the liner is in there tight and pulls on the fender itself. Don't worry about it, give it a gentle tug and it'll come off without damaging your paint or the fender.
4) If you feel around you'll notice there's a big socket for the HID bulbs and a small socket for the parking lights.
5) Grab the socket and turn it counter clockwise about a quarter turn and pull it out of the fender liner.
6) Switch out the bulbs (be careful with the stock bulb if its been on because it gets really hot. If you're replacing them with LEDs then you may need to check the polarity. Just put the bulb in and leave the socket hanging out and turn on the lights to make sure it turns on. If not, then just take out the bulb and turn it around. It should work fine then.
7) Reverse the steps and you'll be done.

I just did this last night.. and trust me.. you will want to take the wheel off.

You just have no leverage with the molding if you have the wheel on..

especially because its hard to see where the parking light bulb wires are, bc they are all the way at the top.

I'm simply amazed Infiniti designed a car where it is such a hassle to change bulbs. I realize bulbs are more advanced than they were back in "the day," but why take a car apart to such a degree to change a simple light bulb. Is it engineered this way so Infiniti service can charge the customer more for labor when a bulb finally needs replacing?

Does anyone have photos of either of the these procedures (wheel on or wheel off)?

Thanks

Great question! I've read threads where people have put in white LCDs and some have put in white halogen. I'd like to replicate the Audi A4 look (even though the Audi is a series of lights), and I think those are LCD. So I'm thinking of going with an LCD.

It sure would be nice if some folks posted some photos of the bulb they put in to replace the factory parking light and the company/model number they used!

Since it's not that hard, looks like I'll jack up the car, remove the tire, and install the new bulb.

Thanks!
Michael

I agree to some degree, but let's face it it's not just about Infiniti -- the upright front-ends of old times are now gone due to safety regulations. And, because of CAFE and other regulations, manufacturers need to come up with better ways to improve mileage -- aerodynamics being one of them. That, in turn forces a manufacturer to come up with a sleeker design. Long story short, you have the G

It's oversimplifying, but the idea is there.

I swap Mines Out with the LCD http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/White...Q5fAccessories

I guess my Swap was Easier because my Cousin Works at Discount Tire and we just jack the car up and take the wheels off. It was a matter of 5 Minutes and I was on my way home with New Lights.
