backup camera needed

well tonight I got lost somewhere and I needed to turn around on a very narrow road.. long story short, I have dark tinted windows and dark tinted tails.. so I cant see anything when backing up.. I needed to stick my head out the window, open my door, and make a 3000 point turn.. I really need a back up camera.. I have no issue with switching to aux to use it.. I can just plug it strait into the rca in the arm rest.. my question is does that even work when in reverse or only in park? I don't want oem because my lip is painted and I don't want to re do it.. What should I get.. I was thinking a license plate one would do.. simple and clean is what I want.. I have a 2007 g35x sedan.. Thanks!!!

Brighter reverse lights or lighten up your tint & tails, I know it looks pretty cool, but is it really worth the danger?

install is easy and yes you have to use the aux (unless you pay hundreds more for a module, do a search for remmy's install thread in the tech section). Ofcourse it works in reverse but you have to do something that we cant discuss on these forums

That looks damn good. I think I like this better than the OEM one.

i love the costal tech camera, HOWEVER, i will say that picture quality is overall better on the OEM one, but if you just install the OEM one you will not see the distance markers, this is a function of the camera control unit in the stock system.

and in reality it doesn't need to be *high* quality because i can still clearly identify whats behind me using it, the color just is off.

that being said i do love this camera although i think the quality could be a tad better. and if you shop around you might be able to find a PAC VCI module for cheaper than i paid. or you could just conjur up a relay scheme to install it and have it automatically swap to the image (but there is more to it than this since the stock LCD uses an RGB image, fyi).

oh, and if you want a stock G35/M35 camera let me know, i'm about to sell the one i bought.

I spent a long time researching this and it looks like there is no way to do this with a nav unless you use the unit.. does the OEM make it possible? I seriously cant find a stair answer anywhere.. Thanks

wait, if you already have nav how do you not have a backup camera? or is that an even *different* package?

you may have the wiring harness for the camera already in the car since you have nav, in which case you might be able to wire it that way.

unless you use a tvandnav to go or PAC VCI you wont have an automatic swap to the camera when you put the car in reverse (well, actually you could buy some relays and make a little system that will do it for you).

I believe the 08's with nav include the backup camera, whereas with the 07's the backup camera was part of the tech package. Correct me if I'm wrong.
