Hey,

I have seen and gotten mixed answers on this. Does anyone have a clear cut definite answer.

I have a 07 G35x Sedan. I do not like the front bumper, so I want to get a new or sport bumper. What are my options? Will an 07 sport bumper fit? Will an 08 bumper fit?

Thanks!!

Any 07-09 Sport bumper should fit.

the 07 sports bumper will fit as long as you dont have the tech package cause of the ICC.
This has been discussed in many posts and even has a few threads of where ppl swapped out their bumpers for Sports and posted pics.

btw the 08 should fit fine as well since there were no changes in the body that year.

To add, sport and journey bumpers are interchangeable and both are available with the ICC cut-out. But, as i discovered with my recent bumper replacement, the ICC cutout is really just that - an "after the fact" cut. You can get the non-ICC bumper and make the cut yourself.

I tried and failed. In fact, I believe I'm the first to swap bumpers and hit the "Tech Pack" snaffu.
I had a brand new S bumper painted Blue Slate before I found the ICC sensor wouldn't work in it's location.
The tech pack and the location of the ICC sensor make it a PITA.

The S ICC sensor is in a different location. Swapping bumpers means moving the sensor.
My dealer quoted me $1500 to do so.

You may be able to cut a non tech sport bumper but I believe the X's ICC location puts the sensor somewhere in the bumper itself and not within the grated areas.
Personally, I think it's gonna look like a hack job.

I went with the Nismo lip on the X bumper instead and I'm happy with it.

Okay, I'm off of my phone and at a computer so I can explain a bit more now.
I know you're looking to get away from all the mixed answers.

A few years ago, I hit a coyote and needed to have the front bumper replaced. Being brand new, I took it to the dealer where I bought it. While there, I talked about swapping bumpers and they were hesitant. I explained that others had done it and it worked. They were willing to order the parts if I agreed to take the financial hit if it didn't work.

So, the bumper comes in and they paint it before test fitting it first. They go to put it on and the sensors don't line up. I asked for them to make a customer bracket to relocate the sensor and they refused... liability reasons.
Only option, purchase a S ICC sensor which comes with the correct bracket... $1500-
It certainly wasn't worth it that much to me and I couldn't get the car back until it had a bumper... so I got the X bumper ordered and installed.

So, if you are going to have someone move the sensor with a customer bracket, or if you can do the work yourself, yes, you could make it work.
If you are looking for a quick swap, it won't work.
And, cutting an S bumper around your ICC sensor will also not work, due to the X's ICC location.

Easy swap, no... won't work, end of story.
With enough time or $$, I suppose anything is possible.

Welcome to the forum, BTW.
I see we're neighbors.

^+1 i just read the OP's sig and he has Tech therefore has ICC so the swap wont be as straight forward unless he doesnt mind spending $$ fo rthe S ICC bracket or does not want a functional ICC which would not make much sense.

I have a normal Journey (NON-X) with tech package. Do you know if my ICC location will work with a sports bumper?

No idea.. it was a few years ago.
Just before I had them order the bumper and do the work, I had gotten into a conversation with the Service Manager while having an oil change done.
We were talking about the diferent bumpers on different models and he agreed that it wouldn't be difficult to swap bumpers.
After bringing that conversation back up while fighting over the cost of the slip up, they let me go without any additional charges.

I got out of the financial hit, but confirmed that the bumper swap isn't worth it if you have the Tech Package.
