rear ended guy who stopped short

today was my lucky day. i was (supposed to be) turning at a light when the guy in front of me was cut off by some dude who didn't yield. he stopped short...i tapped him pretty lightly (after slamming on my brakes like no other) but the tow thing of his truck pierced my front bumper. the guy i hits car was more or less fine, his bumper probably needs to be refitted but nothing major

how bad do you guys think this is? my bumper filled with rock chips and is in overall 'eh' condition, so it was bound to be replaced anyway. i think i finally found my excuse...

Sucks what happened, that might be able to be fixed easily.

i had a similar thing happen to me last year. not a big deal, any good shop can "weld" the plastic back together and fill and paint the bumper to look like new. sometimes it's cheaper to replace it but i think i ended up paying $400 to have mine repaired by a private shop. where-as i think someone else on here paid around $650 with shipping for a new bumper plus painting.

either way it's not a huge deal just make sure you save yourself some cash if you can.

Plastic weld! You could totally fix that yourself! You'd just need a repaint.

Hit up YouTube for vids on plastic welding. I couldn't stop watching them!

Buying the welder, fixing it yourself, and having it repainted would be cheaper than paying someone else to do it, and you would own a plastic welder! LOL You would only need a weekend and a 12 pack (give or take a 12 pack)! I wish I needed something plastic fixed, so I had an excuse to buy a plastic welder!

Plastic Welder??? WTH he needs that for??? The bumper is not torn or anything, it's just dented in.
Well I say it's not that bad, but to fix this you need to hit that spot to push it back out and then use bondo or glaze to smooth it out, then yes it will need to be repainted.
I don't think Plastic Welder is gonna fix this lol

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods
^^I guess you missed the part of the OP that said the tow hitch pierced his bumper. Plastic welder sounds cool.

Mihalis just buy a Karuma Z bumper and call it a day.

i'm unable to see his pictures, i'm only going by what he's saying, that he pierced his bumper. if he did that then he needs a plastic welder.

Did you even look at the pictures??? Did you watch the videos of this thing? This is a perfect job for a plastic welder. Aside from that, how could you not just totally want one anyway??? You're no son of mine...

hahaah, ironically a girl i am interested in was the passenger. that wasn't a fun situation to be in :|

i've called my shop and decided to have them look at it on friday and i'll go from there. i've cleaned it up a little bit and it honestly doesn't look as bad as i initially thought...but it's definitely not acceptable to drive around a G with any imperfections

My car is going in the shop for something like that... i was rear ended a few months ago (never got it to the shop) and then someone reversed their pickup in the front of my car and put a tiny hole in the bumper...

I am getting the bumper welded if you want to wait until I get mine fixed I can post the pics, PM me....

The front bumper with the hole is like 750 to fix and rear without the hole is 350... it can be done for less but the body shop I am using actually works on high end cars only and his work is very nice and he works with me on my deductibles (he is a great guy)
