how safe is our car from auto theft?

Hello all,

One of my darkest fears is to wake up and not have my car parked outside (condo parking with no garages)

now I know a tow truck can come and just drag our cars away, but I was wondering how hard our cars are to steal without the electronic fob (without going into specifics)

like will a car thief not be able to start the car without the frequency from the key fob or can he just break the steering column, touch two wires, and be on his merry way (lol)

help me with my paranoia, thanks

If you have the Keyless key. It requires someone to follow you and point a antenna at your car to, catch the sycing with your key to the car.

They have to do this 12 or so times so that they can crack the encryption.

Now the people with this type of equipment probably will not steal your G lol.

They do this in Europe to Expensive Audi's and BMWS

My opinion is that a talented car thief can steal any car, any place, any time. The only sure bet is to keep it under lock and key (when your butt isn't in it) but that's about impossible.

Anything can be stolen with enough motivation.

But come on...

1) Thats what insurance is for.

2) Its not as if you are driving a F-40 or an Enzo. This car can be replaced, its not THAT special.

3) I am always more worried about hit and runs and Vandalism. These cases mean you are out of an insurance deductible and your car typically is never the same -- if they mess it up enough. Total Headache.

Dont worry mine was stolen, Someone got a tow truck and took it then left it on some street about 5 miles away with my wheels missing, and they somehow got the doors to open also without breaking the key hole.

YeT nothing was taken from the inside INCLUDING my Escort Passport 9500i that was just there on the windshield.

Yeah, I'd rather have my car get stolen than someone vandalizing it, or doing a hit and run accident while parked in a parking lot.

That's why I installed wheel locks because I now live in the city. Don't want thieves taking my wheels.
