Help! Exhaust 2007 sedan

2007 g35s MT6

I am about to buy an exhaust and was told that F.I. weighs 25lbs less than Stillen! I really need some help finding the weight for the following:

Fast Intentions Cat-Back: (58lbs?)
Stillen Cat-back:
Stock cat-back:

Thanks all!

I wouldn't be so concerned about the weight of the exhaust system on a street driven car. The sound is what is more important IMHO because you have to live with it EVERY time you step on the gas.

All I know is the weight difference between my stock system and my FI system is night and day... the FI is much lighter.

I should have mentioned... I came from an Evo X with turbo back exhaust including HFC. It was LOUD and I loved it. I am fine with sound either way and as far as I noticed FI is similar to Stillen, maybe a bit deeper???

Also weight is HUGE if it is actually 25 lbs difference. I suppose I care more than some as I am on the "sport" side of this luxury car... I only traded X because we are blessed with a 2nd child on the way.

PS - Extremely happy so far with car, much sportier engaged drive then expected!

Interesting.. I would call up both Stillen and FI and find out how heavy the CBE systems are.

I'm happy with Stillen.. Louder and Deeper than FI.

We did a comparison a long time ago between a cat back F/I and Stillen with HFC in this thread starting at post 72:

https://g35driver.com/forums/v36-gen...entions-5.html

I still disagree that 25 pounds of non-rotational weight is a "HUGE" difference in a street car though. That is the weight of roughly 4 gallons of gas. However I would say it is huge if it contributes to the rotational inertia of the wheel/tire assembly.

I'm on the "sport" side of the V36 as well. Trust me, you won't feel the difference from 25 pounds in "seat of the pants" acceleration in this car. Unfortunately, the gains from any cat-back on the HR motor is minimal. I hope you don't miss your Evo's off the line acceleration too much.

Hey thx for the link! Awsome help. 25 lbs may not be HUGE by itself (I meant huge re: just cat-back comparison) but if you take same approach to all parts, in the end 100 lbs of non rotational weight is a big difference IMO. As for EVO, Yes I miss driving it but as a DD, the G is much much better.

I'd rather carry 25lbs extra for a system that I liked the sound of.

Wonder why it weighs 25lbs more too.. Stock OEM systems probably weighs more than both of them.. But I would wonder as to why the FI would be that much lighter...? Less/Cheap material?

FI uses much lighter mufflers and steel that is actually lighter but better... not susceptible to rust. (these are words from FI). Stock weighs 13lbs. more than Stillen, so I guess 38 lbs. more than FI.
