When I first bought this car about 6 months ago the MPG average read a little over 17. When I would take trips to San Diego or Vegas it would go up a little,, and then back down to about 16.9 when I would do alot of city driving. Last month it went down to 16.4 and now its dropped again to 16.2. I see some of the pics of your cars' dashs on here read 18 and 19. I have tried driving nicely(slow acceleration) for a week and I have changed the oil and air filters regularly,, but no change. Shouldn't I be up around 18 at least? What do your cars get?

Wow, seems really low... I was averaging 20mpg before. Had some warranty work done, filled the tires and now im getting 22-23mpg.

Is your tire pressure good? Do a lot of uphill or city driving?

tire pressure is good. not really alot of hills here in LA but almost all my driving is city tho....

I've been wanting to reset my ECU to see if it helps. Maybe the person who owned it before me f**d it up somehow.

i wish i got 22...

Maybe it is the greedy oil companies somehow diluting the gas?? I too have noticed a slight drop in my mileage to maybe 18 mpg from 19 or 19.5 mpg (combined city and highway)

In my case though it is likely the colder weather and the snow tires!

This is my second G. I owned a 03 b4 this one so I obviously dont care that much about gas mileage but prefer performance. Infinitys are not know for the best gas mileage. But, if I am now dropping below what my older model sedan got in MPG(that had 100k miles on it) then I would like to know why. I'll probably end up taking it in to the dealer and have them look through it with a fine tooth comb before my waranty runs out in feb.

What is your milage? Winter tires, winter gas, bad gas, lower tire pressure, dirty airfilter, spark plugs all comes into play for lower mpg among many other things. Also if you drive it in pure city you might want to take it out for a little Hwy drive to burn out a little.

All my city driving yeils 18-19 MPG, I live and work on a military base so my trips are really short. Sure I do venture offbase for walmart, bike store etc.

My most recent highway return trip 270 miles got me 24.6MPG. I really can't complain. 35K on my car.

I'd blame the cold weather. My wife drives the G, and I drive a Honda Fit which keeps a running average of fuel economy, and it's dropped around 1.5 MPG over the last 3 months, and everything on my end has stayed the same.

Winter blend vs. summer blend?
Gasoline blends are different in the summer versus the winter. Typically, winter gasoline will lead to mpg values a few percent lower than summer blend gasoline.

Also, the higher the ethanol content of the gasoline, the lower the mpg.

I used to get 19mpg but the past year or so, I've been getting 17-18mpg. I don't know why.
