I am a little concerned about this and wondered if anyone else had this issue. I "think" my warranty is up at the end of the year but not sure. Anyway, I am getting a groan from the right front of my car, it almost sounds like something is wrong with the wheel but it does it when im not moving so that cant be it. It does it only for a few minutes and only when i start the car from cold. I may be answering my own question here in that maybe its just an issue because its 20 degrees here but figured I would ask if this is common. I wish I could describe better what I am hearing. I would just take it into the shop to get it checked, but I cant seem to recreate it when i need to have someone listen to it. Any ideas or advice?

*edit -- it does get louder when im driving thru 1st and 2nd gear. Goes with the engine rev..

 

If it does it while standing in Park then i guess it could be the serpentine belt or maybe the power steering canister makes noise when its nearing empty... its all guesses really as its hard to understand what kind of noise you're hearing... Pop open the hood next time and try to see if you can narrow down the location or item making the noise since its happening in Park it should be something in the engine bay... maybe a video while idling would help someone chime in and help you out.

 

if you can get a clear video of the noise that would help us pin down the issue.

 

great idea guys. I tried recording it on my phone and i can hear it on when i play it on my stereo but not directly from the computer, guess the pitch doesnt come through. i will try a video next time it happens. It has started 4 times from cold since my post and i cant get it to do it again. It did it consistantly for about 5 times and now it only is off and on. Really hard to understand but now that I think about it, it does kind of sound like a belt whirring
