Peeling back plasti dip
I've had some questions asked of me about Plasti Dip, everywhere from what the final finish looks like, how it peels and what happens to the painted surface after the PD is peeled off.
As i'm still waiting for Santa to stop by, he's over the Sandwich Islands as of this writing, according to NORAD, i figured i'd show y'all.
This is on my roof. I sprayed it 4 hours ago. While wet it resembles very bad orange peel, but as it dries it smoothens out to a nice matte finish.
Peeling it back. Take note, this is just one heavy coat.
Shot of the underside, where it meets the roof.
Shot of the roof.
All that said and shown, if you apply this properly one could theoretically use this as a roof overlay alternative.

A lot of people use this on their rims, which should be good for daily driving. I wouldn't try it on the track or very spirited brake use, however. I don't think PD is rated too high in terms of temp resistance.
Then again, per that link eV posted above, seems someone on the Lexus front PD'd their exhaust tips.

Someone else painted their stock wheels with plasti-dip. I don't think they did any sanding, here is the link
