Need a new Backup Cam

So today I did the "forbidden mod" and it works great. But, license plate camera sucks allot it shows allot of static and is not that bright at night. Can any one make a recommendation on a new one that's composite and very high quality? Also I think part of the issue is that the license plate leds above it shine into the inferred sensors and disable the night vision mode. Is that possible? Thanks

Tape one of these to your trunk.

I'd really like to know what this forbidden mod is. I don't know what you're talking about. You can always leave a private message.

I recently bought a new boyo license plate camera off of amazon and the quality of picture--even at night--is nearly identical to my other navi Infiniti's stock camera. Of course, mine doesn't have the backup lines, but otherwise I've been very happy with it.

What brand backup camera were you using?

This This
is the one that I have. I bought it on Ebay (cheaper than Amazon). Read my review (2nd from the top) and I took a couple of pictures. No backup lines, but works well at night, has a wide angle and a decent resolution. Very slim - can't tell there is a camera, seems like any good ol' license plate frame. At this juncture though, I would look for a camera which has distance markings.

Discussion regarding the ability to view video on screen without the car being in Park with the e-brake on is forbidden.
This modification most likely required tapping into the wiring harness to the LCD screen and is therefore not allowed to be discussed in detaill.

Thanks for explaining why I could not talk about it. And yeah, I was looking at the boyo camera (the 420 and 425) but I would like one with distance markers. Can any one recomend a high quility camera with high res image that had distance markers? The camera I currently have is a 30 dollar pyle camera and its terrible! Also I would like to spend under 120.

PM member RemmyZero - I think he has a camera which has distance markings. Do post what and whether he recommends it

hey guys, i haven't really been on the forums alot since christmas so i'm just catching up. i did talk with zoop. i have the barcamm221:

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...r-Cam-221.html

however, to be very honest it is not the best camera and over time i think i could learn to live without the distance markers. i recommended he actually go with the boyo since it is a CCD camera and will have a much better picture. the CMOS cameras (like mine) tend to wash out in the bright daylight which makes it almost pointless. at night the barcamm is awesome though.

cheers!

Bob

Why don't you go all factory on that backup cam? Just buy the stock cam and the chrome that sits on the trunk?

its allot more complicated then that. Me and Remmy have had a long talk about doing this and in order to add the stock wiring harness if its not their already requires a whole new head unit most likely. But, the stock one can easily be converted to composite video. The only thing about that is that you are paying allot for the camera without the added benefit of the lines. Also, I painted my trunk piece black and I dont want to do it again lol.
