Just got 07 G35 Journey with all packages.

After a few days of driving, I notice the following:

On manual shift:

1st to 2nd gear - smooth

2nd to 3rd gear - after 4kRPM, the higher the RPM when I shift, the louder this "noise" gets, clearly is from engine. Not sure if this is the engine knock noise or pinging as I never countered any sort of engine noise from my previous cars. I assume engine ping is more metallic noise, right? I assume engine knock is more deep tone noise which is what I am hearing now. It happens almost every time from 2nd to 3rd.

3rd to 4th gear - mostly smooth, may hear very light "engine knock" occasionally.

On automatic: every gear is smooth and no sound from engine

Anything I should be concern with?

Should I reset ECU for any good reason?

 

I am the only one on this forum suspect of having some sort of "hard shift" or "engine knock" issue??? Damn, I must have a bad luck picking out this car then...

any advice anyone?

 

You still have the powertrain? Under 70K? Take it in to infiniti.

My 07 G35x will do a semi hard shift every now and then when i floor it to get around someone or accelerate really hard..but that's the only time it does it. Thats in normal shift mode. I feel its normal as every car i have had has had a hard shift now and then when doing an almost WOT

Are you saying you hear the knock/ping when shifting?

 

i get a rattling noise on high rpm upshifts from 1-2 and 2-3. i was told it's the exhaust resonators and that it's normal. but i still don't like it.

in 1st gear at higher RPM's im starting to get a loud like scratching sound from the engine and 2nd-3rd gear shifts i get a small sound but not like a high rpm WOT in 1st ... anyone ???
