If he had the forbidden mod done it does not (unless he chooses to hit AUX again). The discussion is about how to make it turn on when it is in reverse, and off when in drive. RemmyZero, hopefully you can come up with some answers as to how to make it work without having to buy an video interface relay.

it can definitely be done, i just need to find the right relay (small, low voltage, specific contact arrangement) which shouldn't be tough. then i'll check where the best place is to solder it into the stereo because the buttons by the screen use a ribbon cable, which is a pain to solder things to. i'll report back soon!

...but yes....no talking about the forbidden mod, just how to make the camera request work....

Not to jack this thread, but one the topic of adding a backup cam etc, are there any good sources to getting wiring harness adapters that plug into the back of the headunit (so that one wouldn't need to splice any wires) ?

I did this mod about a year ago on my car. I was told to get the TVnavtogo (something like that) unit. I think it sold for $200 off their website. I'm pretty sure theres probably a cheaper way of doing it as well. Only prob I get with that is when I put it into reverse and out of reverse my screen flickers a bit, but no biggy. Also, if you have a hard time getting a chrome truck lid spoiler, I bought the OEM deck spoiler instead. Looks nice also.

Hey, I was wondering how you sealed the gaps around the wire from the camera that goes through the trunk to waterproof it and also how you sealed the gaps around the camera since the hole in the trunk lip has no glass covering it. I am thinking about doing this as well and was hoping to figure that out first.

Also, since that camera is no longer sold, I was wondering if you have any advice re: finding a camera small enough to fit the lip. Thanks!

Simplest answer to this would be to power your back up camera by tapping into your back up lights so whenever your reverse lights come on the camera is powered up thus overriding the nav screen and showing the back up camera image.

I think the KENWOOD CMOS-200 would fit the lip too. Great reviews on this camera on amazon.
