Service question

I have an 07 G35S 5AT that I've had for just over 4 years. It is at 23k miles and has had regular oil changes, new engine air filters, and new in-cabin filter done to it.

I am thinking of getting the following done:

* Auto trans fluid
* Diff fluid
* Coolant flush

Do these three items seem reasonable to do given the age and mileage of my vehicle?

not at all. none of those are even reccomended until 30k. and the only one you should actually do is the trans fluid. the other 2 can wait until 60k.

Hey Austin don't give bad advice. If the book calls for 30K service then that's when it should be changed. If the OP decides not to do them, he has that privilege of making that decision but to suggest that he could wait until 60K is wrong IMHO. People do that all the time and when something goes wrong they are quick to say Infiniti built an inferior product blah blah, Just sayin.

^ i dont think its "bad" advice its just a suggestion of what austin would do or does(and is acceptable), and i think everyone is competent enough to read through 10-20 different replies and make a decision accordingly. Some ppl use syn oil and run it over 10k and some (like me) use syn and change at 3750, ppl tell me that its too soon and useless and i listen to their advice but do what i think is better. You have to understand that these are "recommended" fluid change intervals and they will vary based on how you drive. Infiniti themselves have introduced 3 different levels of recommend service intervals... Just sayin

However, i understand and agree with the part where you suggest people slack off in their maintenance and end up blaming the manufacturer for something that might be their fault.

As for the OP i would suggest 30k for the tranny and differential and no need to do the coolant yet.

Agreed on only doing trans & diff.
If u want to save some serious cash look for a reputable mechanic thats ASE certified.
Also helps if they specialize in Nissan/Infiniti.
Much cheaper/quicker than going to stealership.

im just going off what the service advisor at West Houston infiniti told me at my 30k service. and that's coming from the guy that could potentially tell me i needed all of those things and totally screw me out of alot of cash. he said "we have been in business for 20 years and have seen how this stuff wears out, so we know when certain stuff needs to be replaced"

That's sickly low miles!!! 4-years and 23k??? Under 6000 miles a year. Wow. Please tell me you've got other vehicles that your driving. I drive between 15000-18000 miles a year!

Agreed with others on the fluid changes btw.

If you're not sure, have the oils analyzed. (Not sure about having the coolant analyzed.) For a number of reasons, I just went over 11k miles on my last oil change, so when I changed the oil, I sent some off to Blackstone labs. The analysis I got back said the oil looked like what they usually see at 4k miles on these cars, and that I could probably stretch the interval to 12k. I won't, but it's nice to know I'm not doing any harm.

Don't forget that oil additives break down over time, too, and the scheduled maintenance is based on mileage OR time, whichever comes first. If you're at 48 months, that's the same as 60k miles.

Along this same line of thought, I have wondered about brake fluid changes. I haven't seen in mentioned in the maintenance schedules, but I know that our brake fluid isn't anything special and should theoretically be changed periodically as it is hygroscopic. BMW used to say every 2 years for their cars, regardless of mileage. Has anyone seen/heard what Infiniti is recommending?

There is no recommended brake fluid interval as far as i know. Generally speaking, shelf-fluid is good for about 2-3 years or 45k miles. They typically do not absorb moisture as fast as high-temp or race fluid. It's almost like an inverse ratio for this type of fluid... the higher the heat capacity, the more frequently you have to replace it.

Yep, that's what I'd always figured. I wonder why Infiniti doesn't have any change schedule for it.
