as far as i know, using cruise control use more fuel than a steady foot.

if going long distance w/o traffic, keeping the same speed most of the times, how is CC using more fuel than foot? any scientific data?

also wonder if you manually decrease speed using CC (or by ICC sensor), will the brake light go off? if not, it is dangerous for cars tailing you not to know you are slowing down.

The break light shouldn't go off..i don't know about you but if i am on a flat surface and i let my foot off of the gas, the car slows pretty quickly just like the CC would..you can slow without needing brake

I would say CC is more for convenience than for gas savings.

i have used icc on many long trips and in fact use it twice a week on highway non-rush hours 35 miles to work and i get about 1.5-2 mpg higher reading than driving myself, probably cause i unknowingly press the accelerator harder when driving myself.

I believe mine is about 2 MPG better as well. You are always constantly letting off gas and getting back on it even if you don't know it sometimes..which uses a tad more gas.

20 miles each way

on a trip to long beach which is 90 miles, I used cruise on the way there. averaged 32.5

on the way home no cruise, 27.5

So lets just say 15 gallons of gas with CC you will get 60 more miles out of it

I bet you half the people out there with CC don't even use it or know that they could save say 60 miles per tank or about 2 gallons

CC definitely gets you more MPG if you on flat surface but also it will use more gas when its not flat

Dude seriously it isnt that hard. It obviously saves gas rather than your foot being on and off the throttle all the time. You dont need to be a genious to figure it out bruh

We all know that constant stop and go is bad for cars and brings lower mpg so obviously if ur cruising at a constant rate then your goood

I've used ICC many times on long trips, and the way i drive i've actually managed to get better mileage by pushing the pedal myself. Likely because i don't mind slowing down a bit when approaching hills and coasting to a little over limit going down. I can also be very light on the pedal when needed. The increase isn't much though.

I also like having complete control of the car at all times, so i no longer use ICC as much.
