How much gas is actually saved in G's using cruise control?

So I saw this thread before and I must say I did not believe in the concept.
I live in an area of rolling hills and some flats, and I have had the car since AUG. I consistenly get 19.2-19.7 MPG in Highway/City mix.
I have just started to use CC on the highway and on sections of faster sideroads. And I have seen an instant bump of 21.5 mpg.. Its unbelievable.
I think the answer lies in the fact that CC can electronically do a better job giving the car fuel from a feathering standpoint.
I notice that no matter how careful I am when crusing if i just barley touch the gas pedal my instant MPG always dips below 20. But if I let the CC do the work, it may briefly dip below 20 but will tend to stay above 20 most of the time when crusing. Even going up hills it does a better job saving fuel.
When I first started driving this car it always pissed me off how much fuel the instant MPG was reading when I would feather the gas.
I mean barley touching the throttle would dip you way low in the MPG area. I realized that it had to be the sensors in the gas pedal and now the CC experiment confirmed this.
I am now sold and actively use CC on my daily commute so now I just got about 2 MPG by just being aware and using CC like a manual transmission.
