Time for BBK upgrade on G35XS

Question , does the Akebono G37 sport brake kit fit onto 08 G35XS? also, want to know if the OEM 18" wheels will clear them? Any help would be greatly appreciated, I want to get them but need to keep my 18" wheels for winter, I have 20" Asanti wheels I just picked up for summer time. Anyone know what offset will defenetely clear these? Thank again for any info you guys have. I can't find anything for the G35XS.

i believe the OEM front 18" only fit the BBK if you have spacers else they wont fit.

Depends on how the Asanti's were built. They would have to have a thicker mounting pad for adequate caliper clearance. The pad is the most important part. What did they come off of?

You'll also need to find a spare that fits over those calipers... or go without a spare (as many guys choose to do)

My notes - http://gshack.org/?p=174

And lundy is right, 20" of wheels is not a guarantee that they will fit over the Ake's. You may want to borrow Coz/CZP's template and do a test-fitment yourself.

Soundmike good find. But with the G35XS all the rims are the same size. In the link he writes that the rear does not require spacers but the front will need 5mm spacers. Does the G35XS come with the same rims as the front G35S rims or the rear rims? Are the front and rear calipers the same size in depth?

He = me

The rears, i'm referring to the wider wheels. I believe the X uses the 7.5" wide wheels all around, but can't confirm. The wider rears can do without the spacers, but it will scrape the calipers minimally... i strongly suggest some spacers either way.

Lol. Great site Mike!!

Yes, the X has 7.5" wide wheels. So what size spacers would work for the front and the rear.

yes soo, pretty much i can use the OEM 18" wheels , but need spacers to get them to clear. So what you guys think as far as a spacer mm wise for the 18 X 7.5" X Sport wheels? Also, to answer a previous question my 20" Asanti wheels were built for this car specifically, I will have to go check out the offset on them, the 20s should be fine. Thanks for all the helpful info. Where is the cheapest place you guys have found the Akebono kit for?

25mm should do it, i read of a couple of members who confirmed that. A little digging should turn those posts up.

thanks guys, I am still debating what to do, my brakes are grinding metal on metal lol, trying to make a rational decission, I may just stay OEM and get slotted rotors and Hawk pads. Does the OEM G35XS 18 X 7.5" Sport rim have a offset of +45mm? If so, what you guys are saying I would need 25MM spacers correct? Wont that make the offset something like 70mm? Now really sure how this works. I just looked at my 20" Asanti wheels I bought they are 20 X 8.5" with ET 38, so I am wondering what spacer I would need to use with them? How does it work the bigger the offset ( +45) would stick out more towards car body than say the ( +38 ) right?

another question, when installing the Akebono BBK, on my car would I need to remove the dust shields, get the new ones, or have to cut to fit?
