Who's your insurance carrier? Did you say Eerie? I just wanted to know so that I'll never use them..

I hear that the smaller Insurance Companies do this often. This is why, cheaper isn't always better...

My car was stolen a while back and my insurance company kinda hinted at the idea that I was involved!!!! F'ers....

Nehow.. GL on ur claim!!

My insurance company told me to go to a shop and get an estimate on replacement (just like a damaged fender or anything else) and they'd take the estimate into consideration. Worked out for me, only spent $100 or so out of pocket for lugs and TPMS and a few misc things. Of course these were not $4k wheels but they did pay about $1800.

BTW: The reason they stole them was definitely NOT to use them themselves. Money for hookers and blow, imo.

Well just so you know...

I dont know where you live, but I was thinking about buying this guys wheels for my winter set...

http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/2240202228.html

That price is possible. But you can't really tell what condition the wheels are in or what type/life is left on the tires.

But this is a rare situation... I am with you I would fight for a new set of rims and at least $400 bucks for a new set of tires. Depending on how much tread you had left.

Unless otherwise proven, I'd tell them 90%+ tread life left, regardless. They're going to cut your return down as much as they can, better to protect yourself where you can.

I can understand them lowballing on the tires since these wear, but the wheels?
They should be replacing your wheels with new OEM wheels.

If you buy some used set on ebay and one falls apart while you're cruising down the highway, will they come forward an assist you in this situation. I highy doubt it.

This is such BS!

How can they possibly expect you to buy replacement parts from a source with no credible warranty backing? WTH, "caveat emptor" is NOT the way you'd be expected to receive a new hood or fender if your car was damaged and needed repair.

I thought that if an insurance company required the use of used parts, then they had to guarantee them. How can they do that with totally random part suppliers.

As far as using those sources for comps, how do they truly know the condition of them. Are they bent or cracked wheels, faulty TPMS, tires with improper patches and damaged sidewalls, etc.,etc. There are so many unforeseeable possibilities.

thats a good find. im in md. they told me they would show me where to buy them on ebay but wouldn't give me a guaranty that they would be legit or in good condition, they said thats between me and seller. wtf right? who buys used tires from ebay lol i dont know how old they are or how they were treated. i could tell you if somebody like my brother had them i would be in trouble, he doesn't check his air pressure haha

these are all the concerns i have expressed to them.. I am blowing up their phones so i will be posting updates for those that would like to know how this turns out, Im sure it will be a long road. really sucks because i cant really drive the car with the snow tires on it because they willl wear out in no time with the hot weather and weight of the car

just a plug for travelers and i can't be more happy with them regarding my most recent claim.

they couldn't find a refinished LKQ wheel for me, so they paid $780 for a brand new OEM 18'' wheel. they found one exhaust tip slightly damaged, so they paid $500 or so for a brand new muffler. there were some scratches on the bottom side of the bumper that i didn't even realize were there, and they included front and rear bumper repair and refinish.
