What makes the paint on our vehicles terrible?

i was wondering..why is it so bad? My mom has an 03 expedition. We have a cat we kind of adopted and he lives in the garage with my moms truck. He jumps on the hood scratching the hell out if it but it's not that deep and can be buffed out..no white lines with some scratches. He did the same to my car and it went deep. I have a few other scratches on the back of my car as well from nails it looks like opening the trunk...i hope they can be buffed out but they look much deeper than the ones from a cat constantly digging his claws in my moms vehicle..what gives?

Oh ok... I saw that this thread started yeatersay so I crapped my self thinking they actually fixed it.
The paint on this car blows... it may deter me from buying another Infiniti in the future... unless the M series have a better paint or something...

I know Hyundais have stronger better paint, and BMW, Audi, MBs paint is FAR superior. I have yet to find another car at Infnitis price point w/ such weak paint.

I have to admit the paint job on my old beater '96 Explorer 5.0L AWD has held up nicely. I drive it almost every other weekend over a mountain pass so it has gotten lots of abuse over the years from rocks and sand in the winter. I bought it new. I think it has more rock chips on the windshield than on the hood. :-)

Fix em before it gets worse
Please don't waste all that money on a complete paint job..just paint the sections that need it. I did that on my old grand prix. Took the rear quart panel off and repainted it.
Don't we have like a 5 year warranty on our paint/corrosion? Maybe i am just making it up but i thought there was

haha tell me about it, my brother just went from a M6 bmw to a infiniti m45, both cars were black...
his first car wash with the M45, his paint gets fcked and swirly, he's like wtf this never happened with my bimmer... ya that's because nissan paint sucks i told him, it's a known issue
