What makes the paint on our vehicles terrible?
Maybe the BMW was spending more time in the shop than the road??
But yea, that's quite a change.
Our 745Li was a shop-ridden vehicle but had quite a bit of miles and the 02s were notorious for problems. I still would have a hard time trusting a BMW to get me through more than a couple of trouble free years.

the key to not getting swirls on your cars is taking it to HAND CAR WASHES ONLY...dont ever take your car to a regular car wash...that makes the paint weaker and puts the swirls in your car...also in a hand car wash it is more detailed and they get into every nook and cranny in the vehicle. Once I learned this i NEVER went back.

I think the G paint is soft, and it is different from other manufacturers.
I believe this because I also do detailing as a hobby, and the professional detailers know that some paints are soft and easily scratched, and some are really hard.
In fact, Infiniti paint is so soft, that certain polishes that are really fine are even advertised as being able to handle Infiniti paint without marring.
So maybe they use a different clear coat then others, or maybe their process of applying it is different.

ya they made that change and then i think they went back to regular paint the next year, correct me if im wrong.
Oh, I wasn't aware.
Anyways I think if you keep it clean and properly hand wash it once every few weeks. As well as apply a sealant every 2-3 months. Then once or twice a year a clay bar/buff/polish, and I think our paint should look good for many years.

^ no doubt about that, im just saying that the paint requires much more effort than most other cars to keep in pristine condition, my car is over 4 yrs old and the paint looks as good/glossy as new apart from rock chips on bumper and half hood, but it has required a lot of effort and time over these years... which i didnt mind too much
