That actually looks pretty good! I like the idea of painting it black. Although you can't see the Skene (it's so skinny!... bah, bad pun), i think i'll do that as well.

I take it the foam backing has survived all this time?

Thanks for sharing!

Sorry for the retarded question, but what foam backing are you guys referring to? Another dumb question....the screws drilled under the bumper...how are they held in? Can you tell I'm a diy noob?

if you are talking about my little diy then its just the regular 3m foam tape that is strong enough to hold the plate in place but then i screwed two thin long self tapping screw i had lying around through the holes for added security.

Hey Mike. Great DYI. I've been thinking of making my own kit, but yours turned out so good I may just get the same kit as you. Any idea as to what length kit you ordered from Skene? I know the question was already posted but I didn't see a response from you. Thanks!

I just installed this last week and "short" is the correct bracket to get even though the site says "extra short" for the G sedan (prob 1st Gen). This bracket is rock solid when fully mounted.... there's no give at all. I'll go snap a few quick photos for you.

Looks really good! I like the way this one mounts and it looks fairly easy to remove when needed. Thanks for the info and the additional pics!

Does anyone have any pics of this bracket installed without the license plate on? Just looking for a pic with just the two small brackets mounted to the bumper but not the longer brackets mounted to the license plate frame... just curious what it will look like if I was to split the two brackets to remove the plate.
