5AT Transmission shift issue

I have noticed an issue with my tranmission on my '08 and I need some confirmation from others on whether what I am describing is normal or not. I have searched but have not been able to find exactly the issue I am having.

I have been noticing an issue with the abruptness of the transmission shifts - An annoying slight hesitation on both upshifts and downshifts. On the upshifts, it occurs primarily under light throttle conditions, downshifts it occurs in all situations. It is difficult to describe exactly, but it feels like the transmission is disengaging for a slightly longer time period of time than what you would expect. The hesitation is significant enough that it makes you feel like you are tapping the brakes, making your head bob forward.

To my recollection, it was not something that was present when I first owned the car and it has effected the smoothness of the shifts that I recall previously. I am also having something fuel mileage issues, so I have been trying to investigate various contributing factors. This is my second G and traditionally have had very poor luck with support and trouble shooting from my local dealer service.

i have the same issues, and the stutter under constant throttle between 40-50mph.

i haven't looked into the fix much but there may not be much you can do about the shifting. i thought my stutter issue was addressed with an ECU flash though.

Don't worry. That is normal. It's to keep the smooth shifting for our cars. That's the only reason.

I have the shutter issue at 40 MPH as well but I was not going to go there...

I am aware of the rev matching of the transmission, but I am not sure what this is because it definitely does not make it smooth shifting IMO.

My wife's 2005 Pathfinder just received a new transmission under warranty. The Pathfinder uses the same Jatco RE5R05A transmission that is our cars. Her transmission shifts so smoothly, its amazing. None of the complaints I have with shifts in my car.

I recently tried resetting my ECU to see if that would help the problem but the issue still persists.

Mine does that at really slow speeds and RPM. Generally slower than 15 mph and less than 3000 rpm and it does make your head bob forward. I figured it was rev matching, but now you have me wondering...
