Check Engine Light

Is there anyway other going to the dealer to find out why the check engine light came on yesterday?

I was driving home and it just came on. I have 38,700 miles on my 2008 G35.

Thanks in advance,
Shane

just go to any advanceautopart, pepboys or autozone and tell em you wnat your CEL read, they will walk out with you and tell you what the code/general problem is within a few minutes for free.

+1 on going to an auto parts store

And btw, if you go there, and you see it threw a bunch of codes, its likely that it was just a loose connection somewhere, or some freak occurance. If its just a few, I would spend more time investigating. However, I'm no mechanic, and you should still be under warranty, so get it checked regardless.

^ whs, 60% of the time its just a loose gas cap that hasnt clicked when closed, if you fix that the CEL should go away after a few miles

I thought of gas cap. I filled up this morning and made sure it clicked 3 times. I've since drove it 5 times and put a total of 75 miles on it. It didn't go away.

if your still under warranty the dealer should not charge you for reading it, unless it was caused by an car crash, which I doubt

Yeah no crash. Just have to drive 1.25 hours to get to my dealer. I have 38,700 miles so it should still be under warranty.

Yeah, its bad there isn't a dealer near me. Part of the reason I have my G35s for sale right now.

BTW light went off on my way to work this morning.

You don't need a scan tool. I just used this procedure yesterday on my 2007 G35 sedan. I promise it works. Let us know what you find out.

And FYI, the code that had turned your light on will still be stored, if you're curious about what it was. You can reset the codes with the second part of the procedure if you want...

Hey Kool... noticed in your sig.. about the foot illumination.. Is this from the accesories catalog?? or did u make your own?? If its from Infiniti's acc. catolog, how hard was the install??? I would like to augment the standard ambiance lights with this kit... In the catolog its like $136.00
