What's wrong with my G
 

My G has been doing this a lot lately. While driving my brake light goes on, and then soon after that my VDC light and slip light will go on and stay on until I shut the car off. The brake light will go out. WTF???

man sounds like something familiar... I heard about this issue before. Can't remember what it was but hold on someone will chime in.

i believe it's a brake pad warning. It might be time to change your pads. also check your brake fluids.

Its probably where the brake pads have worn down enough to cause the brake fluid level in the resivour to drop down low enough to turn on the warning light. I wouldnt add more fluid, that will just cause a mess when you change your pads. Id look at your brake wear and fluid level.

Mehh . . . not so much. I think it's far better to go ahead and add fluid to get the lights turned off, especially when it could still be many thousands of miles before a pad replacement is required. Mine actually went off about 10k miles ago and I have yet to change the pads. Besides, it's really no biggie to sip some fluid out with a baster when you do the pad change.

Take a look at the pads, as long as you have more then the width of 2 nickels stacked on each other you should be good for at least another 1000 miles. If the pads look good, add some fluid, but just fill it between the low and full marks.

definitely sounds like brake pads.... like he said above, check the thickness and if its ok then leave it.. BUT, do NOT just fill the fluid only without inspecting visually or you can run down your pads and end up eating the rotors.. then your f***ed.

BTW, how do you guys manage to look at the thickness of the pads? i cant see crap cause of the angles and such..

If i turn my wheel i can see the pad thickness. But if not you could use an inspection mirror. If you dont have that though, you're gonna have to pull the wheel off.

Just to add, do not assume that the inboard pads have as much material as the outer ones. If the outer pads are marginal, best to take a look at the inboard ones.

Happend to me as well as the guys on the fourms here toped off the brake fluid the light went off a week later I bought pads figured they where bad. Took the wheel off the pads had a bit more then half of life left.

Yep, same here. It appears that Infiniti undersized the brake master cylinder reservoir in these cars. It lacks sufficient capacity to accommodate the normal range of volume fluctuation required for the travel of full pad thickness. It seems to be calibrated to about half the pad life.
