Questions about iPhone and AUX..

hey guys,

i have an '07 G35 with the AUX inputs.

i've hooked up my old iPhone 3g with composite cables. these are not the original apple cables, just regular composite cables that connect to the iphone through the earphone jack.

i'm able to get audio but haven't had a chance to try the video yet. does anyone know if the video will work with these cables? also, does my iphone need to be jailbroken for the video to work (regardless of cable)?

one more question. is there any way that i can get the song/album/artist info to show on my screen?

Keep in mind that video only works if your parking brake is on, (unless a workaround is used that you we can't discuss on this forum).

The earphone jack will not provide video... you would need the cable that goes from the dock slot on the bottom of the phone to the RCA Audio (Red/White) and Video (Yellow) jacks.
Car must be in Park with the parking brake on for video to display.

There is no on-screen track info in the 07... that came in 08 with the iPod integration

thanks for the clarification!

i'm wondering, the on-screen display should work if i'm able to play video. i guess i would just need an app on my iphone that will output the display info when the songs are playing. anyone know of an app that will do this?

it would be nice to be able to play music with the song info & album cover on the screen while i'm driving

You would need a composite to iDevice sync port, because a 3.5mm will NOT carry a video signal. You need to force video/audio out of your iPhone by Jailbreaking it and downloading the app called TVOutTuner. If you want to have video while driving then you need to do the video bypass mod that we can't discuss here.
