Help! Did I just F up my transmission?!!

So I went to my trusty mechanic to get transmission flushed and brought 12qts of matic S. I also got 2qts of matic D for the transfer case. I left to get some cash and when I came back I found he put all 14qts into the flush machine!!!

Please tell me this won't cause an issue with my tranny.

I'm thinking he poured the 2qts of matic D first and then the other 12qts. Since we flushed 14qts it might have flushed out the matic D. In the end I even had to top off with another bottle of matic S. I figured since matic D is also ATF I should be ok but I'm not sure..

Both bottle are clearly ATF. Matic J is the same as Matic D-- you should be fine.

Nissan changed the formula slightly and relabeled the bottle. In the end, however, if we're wrong,, the responsibility is with him since he was the mechanic.

well i know for sure that matic J and S are exactly the same and just relabeled once AM companies "decoded" the mixture and started making cheaper fluid which was guaranteed to be compatible with Matic D applications, im guessing it was the same issue with D

whew! Its funny you say that since matic S costs several dollars more than matic D. Anyway, I was hoping its all the similar ATF. The labels on the bottles I got look nothing like the ones above.

BTW, I read a lot of threads about drain/refill vs full flush. In my opinion, after going through my first flush today using drain/refills on all my other previous cars... flushing seems a much better method.. if done correctly!

Matic S is has more synthetic properties then J.

And hopefully not, Go smack your shop for not reading the warnings plastered all over the manual and engine bays.

Also 14 quarts is not enough to get out all of the old fluid, But depending on how he did it, you might have little matic D in their but I would not gamble on a tranny, they are expensive.

you can pour 100 qts into the flush machine. it will still be fine the way flush machines work is it only puts as much fluid in as the amount that came out.

Kenny, I think that is obvious. I was stating that I think the tranny holds 11ish qts of oil and if you flush 14-16 qts, I am hoping the first new 2-3 qts have also been flushed out with the old 11ish qts. In other words, the machine should of flushed out the Matic D or at least most of it that shouldn't be in there.
