Which short intake to buy?

I know this has been talked about alot but I just wanted to get a better answer from the experienced people. Some have said no gains and only better sound, well I am looking for something with better sound but is equal or better then stock.

I can buy locally (Canada) Injen, Takeda, and maybe some other brands. Which brand of short intake should I buy?

R2C or Stillen Gen 2 have the best isolation for the filters.

R2C is $500 and Takeda is $350, Injen is about $450 or less. I prefer locally so I don't know if they have Stillen.

If you must change out the entire intake, I'd choose RC2 or Stillen.

I would probably just go K&N. I think someone here dyno'd and got 5-6hp. Price is not too bad. I certainly wouldn't pay long tube money on a short ram (ie. R2C).

Looking for just sound... I say take off ur air box covers. Back in the day when I was young but I'm not a kid anymore, people used to pull them off their civics and integras all the time. Man, some days I still wish I was a kid again.

Okay newb question here but what are the differences in long intakes and short intakes?? I've been browsing around sites looking at intakes to get quotes because I'm planning to buy some in the near future.

Longer ones will try and suck in colder air because they are closer to ground/front of car where as short will suck in hotter air.

In these cars..its really only about sound you will see little if any power gains

I've heard of people losing power?? Saw a few posts about something.. Wasn't sure if was some rumor maybe?

Also what would be the difference from getting cold air and hotter from intakes??

Some people do actually lose some power going to intakes. Our stock intakes do a great job. Dropping in K&N filters will give you more gain than the R2C i have.

Cold air is denser than warm air..if you get denser air into the engine (colder air) you will get better performance
