annoying door-ding

Someone gave me two dents on my passenger side door. The dents are about the size of a penny, and they are close together. They're located under the passenger side mirror.
I went to a body shop with paintless dent repair. They said that they couldn't repair the dents. Something about the dents being close to a internal support beam. There is a scratch between the dents, but it isn't that deep. Paint shop also thought the paint could chip off if they tried to remove the dent. So, they gave me an estimate for complete door repaint at $650.
I don't think I'm going to do that. Any other suggestions?

Those dings don't look so big... it looks like they can be pulled and fixed without paint by someone experienced in fixing these small dings.

There must be a factory turning out disrespectful douchebags in pretty much every town in the USA. Seems like they're everywhere

Find someone in your area that does PDR. There might be a TSB for this....

I've dealt with Paintless dent guys when I worked at a dealer and they can do some amazing things.. I would try another place or two before settling for painting the door. We use to have a place called the ding king who came in a truck and fixed all our used cars.. He charged me $60 to remove a few on my car which I thought was reasonable compared to paint a body shop.

A good paintless dent repairman can do wonders. I had a guy take out a eraser head size ding above my gas cap door and no one would ever know it was there.

Try calling your dealer or shop around for recommendations.

Thanks for the advice. I'll probably call another dent guy this week. A lot of them are "mobile dent repair".

If I remove the interior panel and front speaker, will I have access to the sheet metal?

Maybe try calling a few high end auto dealerships and some top notch body shops and see if you can get a consensus of which dentless reair guy is particularly good in your area. Dentless repair is as much an art as it is a skill; if you find the right guy, he'll fix you up!

I agree. When I worked at the dealership, they had a van come out and do some amazing things to car dents and scratches. I feel you. I notice every new ding that inconsiderate, no business, born insecure, rat soup eating, junk yard mother suckers put on my black G.
I have six now, so I guess I am due to get them fixed.

Due to a recent hail storm, a hail repair guy set up shop at Texas Nissan in Grapevine, TX. They looked at my dents, and said that they would try to get them out. They also said that the dents were right next to an internal support beam.
They got the dents out, and the door looks a lot better. It's not perfect, but I understand that the dents were deep and in a bad location. I would recommend this dent place for anyone that lives in the DFW area.

Glad you got them taken out. What did it finally end up costing you to remove them?

final cost was $115. It would have been less if the dents were in a better spot.
