Take the car to a 1/4 mile drag strip near you and then fill in the calculator based on your timeslip data.
Please keep in mind that this is an educated guesstimate.
Based on my 07X timeslip data. It does 0-60 in 5.1 seconds. This was at my hometown track (Mason Dixon Dragway), which is about 1-2 tenths slower than Cecil County Dragway, or MIR.
I highly doubt magazines try to get all they can out of each car they test. Like gtbigup01 said, they end up listing the average for the day.
If you get obsessive about it, then some of the following may come in handy:
- Choose a track with low elevation
- Cold temperatures + low humidity are a plus
- Try to have no more than 1/4 tank of gas
- VDC off
- Find a sweet spot for launching (my auto responded well to 2000 rpm)
- For AWD, air up all tires 10-15 psi (do not exceed listed max pressure)
- For RWD, a set of drag radials may be necessary for a solid launch

I got smoked by a Neon SRT-4 yesturday. It was embarrassing. Although I did notice he had a full roll cage, really loud turbo and a little drag bumper in the rear. I was wondering what it was doing on the freeway.

^ Hell when those things first came out the were doing low 5s straight out the box. Little POS but fast!!

Isn't stopwatch timing kind of like bench racing? Just go to a drag strip. You may be surprized how much fun it can be, not to mention you'll get a printout of your car's potential.
