"New" 2008 G35x QUESTIONS
I am new to this group so hello to all, I just purchased a pre owned 2008 G35x Premium pkg 27K miles from a local Infiniti dealer. Car still has 18 mos of original bumper to bumper warranty.
Absolutely love the car. I have had it for about a week and have been jotting down issues that I am noticing to bring attention to the dealer when I bring it in for some "adjustments" soon.
I am hoping that many of you can relate to some of these issues and how I should hope to have them addressed. All replies are very much appreciated.
They are:
I know the car will not be perfect, thats what I expect from an 08 but I DO expect Infiniti quality and hope the dealer can fix these issues. I really love this car and am hoping for several years of fun and enjoyment with it.
Thanks again for your replies !!

They are:
- TPMS sensor needs to be reset as they swapped a new rt front wheel.
- Strange: the left thigh bolster on the driver seat seems CRUSHED about half way down, maybe from leg pressure while getting out of the car? This is just not acceptable
- the instrument cluster "squeaks" on bumpy roads. This I know is an issue- can they correct it?
- the areas of the top of the cluster where the vinyl wraps over the top and meets the side buttons (that control the center cluster display and dimming on the left) are popping out. It makes the cluster look cheap and this I would not expect from an Infiniti
- sunroof seal on top looks worn already (cracking) Sunroof itself is fine.
- Brakes have some meat left but really should have been replaced before I took the car

brakes
My '08 G35x just went for a 30k service and has 75% brake pads left, with lots of city driving. Can't speak to the other issues, but there is a good chance the brakes are fine. Check before you replace.
welcome, nice choice of car, I'm not biased at all
use the search button and check for warranty issues and tsb's, I know that the sunroof trim is a comoon issue but can't really speak to the others...

Let us know what they do for you!
Took it in to the dealer this morning. The advisor had a bit to be desired. When I started going over the list of issues he asked me " did you look at the car before you bought it ?" that was a bit obnoxious as far as I'm concerned.
I took the assistant service manager out to the car to show him my concerns. He looked at the seat and the cluster lid and told me he would " take care of it " hopefully meaning replacement.
He knew the car is still under warranty so it shouldn't be a problem. I am wondering HOW he will fix the crushed seat bolster. A new seat is $$$$$ and the leather may not match (??) but if it is covered then it should be replaced.
I have an 11 G25x loaner and will know by early next week as to the solutions.
Will keep you up to date

Yea that means it will replaced. There is TSB for this so he will essentially have to. In addition to the cluster lid sides popping out, (I would be surprised if you got a new seat but who knows maybe) same goes for the sunroof. Should most deff. be replaced under your warranty.
Your rotors might need to be re-surfaced.
Good luck hows driving that g25 anyways, slow prob. compared to the 3.5L?

The G25x seems a bit strange. The CAR is the same in all respects just the smaller engine. It handles the same but is obviously slower. It's 100 hp less. It is "peppy" and the engine makes that sweet Infiniti growl but all the growl is not accompanied by the power. Interesting is that a new G25x goes for same as the G35x did a few yrs ago.

About the crushed thigh noster on driver side...Mine was like that too, but isnt that normal? U will get that eventually from constantly goingin and out of ur car.... I am surprised the dealer is going to replace it
I had the squeaky instrument cluster on my 2008 G35xS and they fixed it under warranty. It was driving me CRAZY so I couldn't be happy to have it fixed.
I noticed my sunroof seal is cracking as well. Will be interested to see what your dealer does about that. Might mention mine at the next oil change.

Ok all, I spoke to the assistant manager and he said they:
-are replacing the warping cluster lid
-are replacing the defective seat frame (!)
-checked the brakes and found to be fine- pads with >50% left
-reset the TPMS
-replaced the front license plate mount
-are to fix the squeaky cluster
-are looking into the sunroof seal
I won't know until I get the car back but the dealer is owning up to all my requests.
I'll post a final comment after I get the car...hopefully tomorrow evening

Got the car back today. New driver seat cushion ( but the original leather= good ) new cluster lid, replaced 2 defective TPMS sensors. Looks even newer than when I got it. It was washed and cleaned. These guys did a great job.
Next time around I understand my peeling area by the phone controls on the steering wheel and wearing of the finish on the shift **** are warranty issues as well. I'll enjoy the car now and deal with that next oil change
