Question CEL p1148

Unfortunately, I am stuck with a Performance's Shop mistake.

Read More here : https://g35driver.com/forums/northea...ml#post5954582

They replaced my Stock cats with aftermarket performance ones and managed to break what I believe is the Air fuel ratio sensor 1.

From the service manual:

P1148, P1168 CLOSED LOOP CONTROL

P1148

Trouble diagnosis name
Closed loop control function (bank 1)

DTC detecting condition
The closed loop control function for bank 1 does not operate even when vehicle is driving in the specified condition.

Possible cause
Harness or connectors (The A/F sensor 1 circuit is open or shorted.)
• A/F sensor 1
• A/F sensor 1 heater

Can someone chime in and tell me what this means? From the looks of it my Air fuel ratio sensor (bank 1) needs to replaced? Is this the Air fuel ratio sensor that is located on the passengers side header?

How easy is it to replace this sensor? Can I DIY?

Thanks

Not difficult really, just get under your car and start wrenching.

I had a situation exactly like yours. I took my car to a performance shop to have my catback and HFC swapped in and they stripped both my 02 sensor. They salvaged one and made me PURCHASE a new 02 sensor and it was around $250 for a brand new one. I'm still bitter about it til this day.

The reason this happened is between the years 07 to 08, Nissan changed the cats a bit which WILL strip the sensors if touched. Now from 09+ no one has that problem because it has been fixed.

Did you get your Air Fuel sensors replaced (Front ones on the header) or the rear o2 sensors (Back ones on the cats) replaced?

Sorry to hear about your experience. Mine wasn't good either. Thanks for the info

I left a lengthy reply in your other thread about your experience... as for this it seems as if its your pre-cat O2 Sensors, which would be the sensors in the headers, also known as Upstream O2 Sensors, I believe with nissans that code is for the O2 sensors from what i can recall on my friends car and they were about ~$60 each for aftermarket ones(i think they were BOSH) but they were not direct fit but worked flawlessly, not really sure how they messed up your top sensors but hope this fixes it.

BUT please ask around more and make sure before getting this done and its not an easy DIY with the top O2s i suggest getting it done by a local mechanic.
